Caron rebounds the ball as well actually...from the 3 spot more often than not of course he can't distribute like Iggy can and Iguodala's defense is on-point for a stud SG.
If you are looking for a new franchise guy, you may as well say good buy trying to win a Championship now. If you are looking at young guys for that type of player out window in 3-5 years from now. I'm looking at the next 2-3 years. If we don't win in that time frame, we can move those veteran guys on and then look for that star. By then a combination of Landry, Brooks, Ariza and Bud may be enough. Who knows how far they come.
OK here's the deal. Butler is more fundamentally sound and therefore the better shooter if you're going by percentages. Iggy is better at getting off tough shots like at the buzzer though, because of his athleticism. Both are capable, scorers, rebounders, defenders. Niether is truly a two guard, but i'd say butler fits better as that than Iggy.
Caron actually averaged close to 5 asst before, now the wiz dont have a lot of shooters and i think that's a big reason why his assists are down. AI averages about 5 as well and he distributes well, but the sixers have more capable shooters too.
The new investigation also has put any notion of trade talks between Washington, which is resigned to performing radical surgery on its roster and is now willing to trade anyone -- including Arenas, Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison -- and other teams on hold indefinitely. A league source indicated Thursday that the Wizards would make a play for the expiring contract of Houston's Tracy McGrady, which another source confirmed Friday. However, the second source indicated that Washington was only one of several teams that were bidding for McGrady, who has been allowed to leave the Rockets indefinitely while the team tries to work out a deal for him. "It's not close to happening," the second source said. "Anyone who tells you that doesn't know what they're talking about."
Thanks for the reply, it seems Butler may not be a bad fit afterall. I'd like to start him at the 2, Battier at the 3, and bring Ariza in off the bench for Battier... A second team of Lowry, Ariza, C-Bud, and Landry would be sweet.
Rockets trade: * McGrady (expiring) * Battier * Cook (expiring) => to the Bulls Bulls trade: * Salmons * Deng => to the Wizards * Miller (expiring) => to the Rockets Wizards trade: * Butler * Foye (expiring) => to the Rockets Rockets incoming players: Butler, Foye, Miller Wizards incoming players: Deng and Salmons Bulls incoming players: McGrady, Battier, Cook Let Ariza play Battier's spot with more focus on defense, his points will follow after that. Butler will be the scoring wing and Miller knows Adelman's style of coaching. Foye (expiring) can also play SG and we all know RA likes small players at the guard spots (Brooks-Lowry and Bibby-Bobby Jackson).
Ariza + McGrady + unguaranteed 1-st round pick for Butler, M. James, Miller and Stevenson - I wrote about this before in our random rockets trade ideas thread. This is maybe the only way, how we can get an All-Star from wizards squad. we are not in "boss position" in this trade. we have no choices, Grunfeld have those one. He can make a variety of moves, cause Caron is very interesting player for the market but McGrady isn't, so we need to agree on this trade if we really want to get on All-Star caliber player.
I would love to have Iggy or Caron Butler on this team. Since we can't have a healthy Mac, Iggy and CB will do the job
Just saw an espn insider stating Wizards may be able to terminate the Arenas contract due to the gun incident. This would probably change everything regarding a trade with the Wiz. Can an espn insider please post the link to the story?
If true, that's like Washington winning the lotto. Arenas is so radioactive that they would have to offer Nick Young, JaVale McGee and their unconditional #1 for T-Mc, Taylor and Dorsey just for Morey to listen while holding the telephone at arm's length.
iggy > butler, to be honest, i wouldn't want butler unless they included a few young players like mcgee. iggy, i could just get iggy + expiring.
found this on lakers blog http://lakers.freedomblogging.com/2010/01/01/if-caron-butler-to-rockets-not-ideal-for-lakers/27689/
T-Mac > Butler forever. and agent 0 > Butler. so in my opinion, tmac for agent 0 is more worth then for butler
Nothing's close to happening. An article in the New York Post---or was it the Daily News?---quoted someone as saying Morey wants to talk to a lot of teams. So you never know. We might deal for Butler, we might not, but we all might have a bit of a wait on our hands.
