The thing to remember is that there were plenty of rich contracts handed out in summer 2016. Plenty more have similar or even significantly worse "value" than Ryan Anderson. We don't need a team to take Anderson and give Knicks no salary in return. We just need a team willing to accept Anderson for their own expensive contract(s) and for Knicks to find these contracts acceptable. The bottom line is this: The Knicks don't have a really good alternative if they don't send Melo to Houston (or Cleveland). Either the Knicks risk having disgruntled Melo poison the locker room while paying him $50M over 2 years or they pay him close to $50M to go away.
You're assuming the Knicks FO is rational. Doltan could just keep him till midseason, watch the tire fire burn and then cut him loose at some undisclosed time.
Fine with me. But the Knicks statement upon the Hardaway signing made it pretty clear that they do not want Melo back at all.
Yeah thats unfortunate. We have a Sports radio station based in Melbourne. Whilst its not individual team based its pretty much 90% Australian Rules Football chat and 10% all other sports. Its all i listen too usually
Houston sports radio is generally awful because all they want to talk about is the Texans. We have the best team in baseball and they talk about the Texans in the middle of June non-stop. It's freakin awful. There are a myriad of other reasons why sports talk generally sucks around here.
I hope things work out. It just seems like these jokers would deliberately say something to poison their bargaining position only to change their minds and not trade at all in order to feel like they're saving face.
He could still get 27-28 minutes a game playing behind Jokic and Milsap. Denver thinks they can compete right now and after 2 years they can dump his expiring contract when those other guys are ready. They have been trying to dump assets into 1 piece that can contribute for a while now. This would do that for them. Murray/Beasley Harris/Barton Chandler/Juancho Milsap/Ryno/Lyles Jokic/Plumlee Pretty good team imo
This is one of those instances where the 24 hour news cycle really ruins things. It's completely removed the element of surprise, and has forced all of us to expect things at our fingertips.
27-28 minutes how? Ryno can only play the 4, and they already have 3 options at PF. Millsap will be getting 30+ mpg. Juancho is a stretch 4. Why should they force him to play SF and hinder his development for Ryno? What they need is a legit starting PG and more wing players, not 60 million more dollars invested in the PF position. Them wanting Ryno just doesn't make any sense.
Of course it does. To be a bad contract is different than to be overpaid or paid to do nothing. Obviously a Parsons or Noah contract is worse than Ryno's, cuz they're both huge but atleast Ryno plays. But a contract that may have only 2 years left or is only 11 million dollars a year rather than 19 can be better a lot of the times. It's not as hard to trade an 11 million dollar contract. Just cuz the player is better doesn't make the contract better.
Seems the more repeat threads of the same thing must create more clicks as we have to read the same crap over and over again. Guessing there must be some kind of pay-per-click with advertisers?
