    JVG has matured and learned alot over the years.

    I'm pretty sure his coaching philosophies on both sides of the court have changed, especially on offense after watching the Warriors/Spurs over the last few years.

    Well lets see, four years of a dreadfully slow pace, offensive ranks were:
    15th, 15th, 24th, 29th.

    As opposed to the Harden years, offensive ranks were:
    -7th, 12th, 5th, 6th.

    So, to answer your question, it was considerably worse.

    so now Mark Jackson is interviewing for the Timber-wolves Gig ?
    Is there a Rooney Rule in the NBA? or are they really considering Jackson instead of Thibs and JVG

    What I look for in a coach is a guy who's intelligent, and also not stubborn. Look at Steve Kerr, he is a smart guy, but also very humble. He surrounds himself with great assistants because he trusts their knowledge.

    JB, he's probably humble, but not intelligent.
    McHale, humble, but not intelligent.

    We need guys who are smart and can think. I sort of feel like JB forgets about certain players on his team during the game because he's analyzing multiple things at once. It's too much to handle for him. JB might be a good college coach, but as an NBA guy he needs to calm down.

    Look at the top guys in the NBA: Pop, Carlisle, Kerr, Budenholzer, Stephens, and Stotts. These are all guys who are shrewd, calculating, but calm. These guys are thinking multiple steps ahead, and aren't just in the moment. That's why Carlisle calls timeouts as soon as a team scores 2 straight baskets sometimes. He sees the trend and the momentum shifting ahead of time.

    A coach should be the smartest person on the team, but then it all goes back to Morey. We all know he is arrogant, haughty, and stubborn. He WANTS his coaches dumb. That's why he hired McHale. He wants a lapdog that he can tell what to do. The last thing he wants is a coach with actual basketball intelligence telling him that his philosophy is garbage.

    I really hope the Rockets standards for a coaching hire aren't "well...he can't be worse than Bickerstaff, right?"

    I mean...wasn't that the line of thought before? "Well...he can't be worse than McHale, right?"

    This.

    And that's why I think Nate McMillan is probably our best shot.

    I used to be all about Thibs or JVG, im all on the Luke Walton bandwagon. We know Phil is goign hard after Luke, but we have Harden and a chance to build around him to Luke's liking while NY is stuck where they are for a while.

    Yeah, you have to look at Luke Walton and really consider him. 73 win assistant coaches are rare these days.

    I would LOVE to have JVG back!

    Plus his slow methodical way of running the offense may allow out of shape Harden to catch his breath and play some D!

    I'd like to remind those complaining that the JVG style wasn't pretty enough, that the Hakeem championship years were deemed so ugly that the NBA changed the rules.

    Me, I didn't have any problem with those years.

    I don't remember Nate McMillan the coach and his style.

    How long did he coach Brandon Roy? Perhaps he knows a way to get Harden to play more off ball. Nate had the Blazers at 54 games with healthy BRoy and 61 games of Oden. 3 straight 1st round exits but they were tough even without a healthy Roy and no Oden.

    Maybe Batum would love to play for him again too.

    I really hope Morey has learned his lesson on the importance of a good coaching staff. You can't have a guy like JB running your team, trying desperately to coach his players while they play. Its like he is trying to play for them...

    A good coach has a system in place so his players can focus on their jobs, while he focuses on match ups, strategies, and any other adjustments. That is why you see Kerr and Pop so calm.

    I'd much rather have Van Gundy than Brooks. If Joerger gets canned by Memphis, that would be a possible candidate.

    To me Brooks would not be an upgrade over JB, they both only know two plays.

    Brooks = (1) Iso-Durant, and (2) Iso-Westbrook

    JB = (1) Iso-Harden, and (2) Iso-Brewer
