    All of these players you mention, they aren't difference makers. Standing pat is a great option and a smart move thus far.

    Resign Mutombo....

    On a serious note, our glaring hole at the back up center position is a real concern now...If not addressed, we're sure to be in for another 1st / 2nd round exit.

    They all are difference makers for us...specially jefferson...and chandler could be. IF Yao is healthy then there roles are not as crucial but you cant bank on tha...You have to go in expecting Yao out 1 3rd of the season or more...or you are just ill prepared.

    If we move in with brad miller...that helps but not nearly as much as having a defensive presence at the rim like Jefferson or Chandler.

    When we play Heat or lakers the combo of Yao and Chandler/Jefferson would have shut down the pentatration games and made the teams outside shooters...allowing our wings battier/Ariza to work defensive magic on them

    Also putting them in a bad posistion Wade/Labron FGs from shootign is nothing copared to dunks and layups...so theoretically we would have our inside FGs from Yao/Scola/Jeferson or Chandler 60% plus...vs Wade/Labron OS% low 40s....

    Thats why it is important.... add carmelo if you want but we dont need more offense to win we need Boston Celetics interior D.

    Too many teams with capspace (in Dallas's case, Dampier's contract, which is as good as capspace) willing to take on contracts.

    Expirings can't compete with that.

    Rockets are going to have to be satisfied with whatever is left on the market, after all the capspace is gone.

    By all reports, Morey had Chandler as a target so you are engaging in a bit of rationalization here.

    @STEIN_LINE_HQ

    After missing on A. Jefferson and demise of TOR-CHA deal, Mavs chased Chandler to be other big w/Haywood and because he's on expiring deal

    @STEIN_LINE_HQ

    When couldn't land any of its summer targets w/Dampier chip, DAL decided to send it to CHA when Bobs willing to take back Carroll contract

    Who cares if Miller fits the offensive system....that is not an area of concern for us. We were fine last year offensively...mind you with Chuck Hayes as our starting center.

    Dampier fits the need much more than Miller does.

    Dampier is decent fall back option above B Miller for sure...but we should try and get Gortat...although its going to cost a lot more than chandler and jefferson would have...I imagine.

    Chandler was a great target for us in that he was a rental that could give us a big Yao security blanket. He could man the position until February, if Yao regained form, he'd be a great deadline trade piece. If Yao struggled, he could stay on and give Yao an entire year to get back to starting status.

    He makes sense for the Mavs in a sense because Cuban loves maintaining these expiring trade chips. But swapping one (Dampier) out for another isn't anything to get excited about. And while Chandler can play, they're only going to get but so much out of him if he's backing up Haywood and Dirk. It also suggests to me that Cuban gave up on his Dampier + Butler trade offers for a franchise player (great news for us).

    It is amazing to see how many squads are dumping salary overboard. Might be because they know the new CBA will let them sign guys to much friendlier contracts (lose the godfather deals now)....but it could also tell you the financial state of most of the league.

    I'm not upset about missing out on Chandler. I will be if somebody else snags Paul or Melo.

    Patience is key, yes it would be great to have chandler on the team, but we have yao back its not like he was going to start and Hill has the same potential that chandler offers.. Morey is a genious, if there is nothing you like and you dont want to gut your team , you wait, our team as it is right now, is actually very good with yao back, martin in a full year, ppat added and everyone else with one more year experience, i think morey is trying to get rid of jeffries, andersen, and picks and has to find the right takers, but he still wants to keep the core intact.

    How do you explain the Kevin Martin trade then?? And Ariza was showing promise as well, esp. when you think of what he can do next to Yao..

    On topic, this sucks for us :(... Hopefully we can get Miller, a classic backup who already understands the system and expectations of the coaching staff/team

    Rockets ranked 17th overall in both offensive efficiency and defensive efficiency. They can use improvement on both sides.

    I'm not the only who's absolutely laughing that after so much hearing of "Oh, Dampier's EC will get a star", he's traded for Tyson Chandler?

    Dude didn't score a field goal in 118 minutes of playoff basketball last year. :eek: So it wouldn't suck that much.
