Knicks fans reactions to this were hilarious. http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1024818
They should sign Lee and Gay. Then get Kyle Korver, Channing Frye, Steve Blake and Anthony Morrow as a second unit. Combine them with Gallinari and they should chuck up more threes than any team in the history of three chucking. And give up 130 points a game whilst doing it!
They can get Melo next season, they will not get Gay, he's a RFA I think it's unlikely the Grizz let him go for nothing. Coming from Woj (who is hardly ever wrong about this stuff...) this is very good news.
Keep in mind that it's quote from an agent, who may have motive. If he is the agent of a 2nd tier star like Rudy Gay, I wouldn't take it serious.
Bobcats didn't need an All Star player (Stephen Jackson) to propel into the EC playoffs. 2011 draft could be one of the weakest with the threat of a lockout. I still think the Rockets need to cash in on these picks before the end of this free agency.
I was curious about the 2011 NY pick. I know we have the right to swap picks with them next year if they don't get the no.1 pick. When people say that we can trade the 2011 NY pick does that mean that the Rockets have to trade their pick next year for the swap with NY to work or does that mean that the Rockets keep their pick next year but trade the right to swap picks with NY to another team?
Its weak in terms of depth, but there still some high end talent to be had in the 2011 NBA Draft ... NY please strike out in Free agency! --RB
It'll potetionally be weak because players will choose stay out of next year's draft if there's a lockout.
Do we need to make a 2011 Draft thread already? Come on people, we're above that. After all, we're not fans of the Clippers, T-Wolves, Grizzlies, or Knicks...oh wait, the Knicks fans won't be following the draft for another five years seeing as they've traded away all their picks LOLOL. Prognosticate away at what prospects will or will not leave early. It's only gonna get better from this point on.
Oh and in response to this...at least we know the Kentucky recruits will all be going into the draft. Calipari won't let them stay at UK since he's already recruited over them! Lol. I'm not even joking either; he's got the #1 PG (Teague) and the #1 SF (Gilchrist) lined up and is the favorite to land the #1 PF/SF as well (Miller). Brandon Knight and Terrence Jones will be kicked out whether they like it or not. Sorta like when Cal broke the news on our own Patrick Patterson before he or his family even knew that he would be declaring for the draft.
I remember reading about this.. but didn't Patrick Patterson graduate in three years? How was he going to come back for his "senior" year?
Ummm, don't gloat too fast. If the Knicks DO start to get the clue that they are being shut out, they will have an irate fan base on their hands, and may be willing to do something desperate, such as make big offers to... ummm.... Scola and Lowry...? ..which would force us to match. Maybe a sort of a poke in the eye of Morey before they begin their long ugly season. I could see D'Antoni liking Lowry, but I don't really see Scola as being a fit for that offense, so hopefully NYK can sign at least SOMEONE to keep their fans from burning the place down without having to turn their eyes to *our* RFA's.
For all the people salivating at the pick next year, NY isn't going to be that bad. Even as bad as this year, Utah only managed a #9 pick. Next year, with some 2nd/3rd tier FA talent, they're going to be borderline playoff team or bottom of the lottery. OTOH, if we can somehow get JJ, Bosh, while keeping NY's picks... then we may be on to something.
