It might be worth it. Remember that in addition to Dalembert's contract, Iggy was himself overpaid. On the other hand, Evan Turner would be on a rookie deal. Turner + Brand is a lot more talent per dollar than Iggy + Dalembert.

Brand has 3 years/51 million left. He's probably at least worth the MLE, so figure you're taking on 30-35 million of deadweight contract. You get Turner for 5 years at 3 millon per year. So the question becomes, would you want Turner on a 5 yr contract at 9-10 million per year? If he's an elite player that's a bargain, if he's a bust or role player then he's overpaid.

He showed up at the draft combine fat and out of shape, 292 lbs and 16.4% bodyfat. It's not good for his lazy reputation. Laziness turns turns draft stars into draft busts like Kwame.

To be honest 16.4% bodyfat isn't considered fat... Everyone can't have a Dwight Howard morphology.

You can find thousands of other graph's just like these and info all over the net. 16.4% bfat is not John Wall kind of fat, but they don't have the same body, and don't play the same position.
    DeMarcus Cousins is a tank.

That's fat for a pro athlete.

He could be Derrick Coleman, put up decent numbers but gained weight and never lived up to his potential.

He can just get enough work ethic, he could be Shaq. Come to pre-season camp, fat. Work his way into shape during the season and then dominate in the 2nd half and playoffs.

Either way, he is fat, but you still draft him for the HOF potential.

Cousins is immensely talented. He needs a firm coach and some veterans to guide him. Calipari had problems getting Cousins to do condition drills with the rest of the team in the beginning of the season. Calipari never budged, and Cousins adapted.

Most draft picks work hard to get in peak condition for the draft combine. Without his coach, he has slipped up and lost some conditioning.

Sometimes even that is not enough though. He strikes me as the type of guy who can't wait to get paid*.. combined with a questionable work ethic, that's a huge red flag for me.

He's got all the talent in the world, but if I don't think he'll live up to his full potential I might start looking elsewhere. At least Whiteside is in shape and working with Hakeem.. I haven't heard much from Demarcus except that he showed up out of shape.

*paid.. more than he did last year at Kentucky.

Exactly the point, he didn't come back starting at 30 mpg. You are crazy, if Yao is going to be any different. It took 1.5-2 years, before he got to 30 mpg. You guys are unrealistic if you expect an older and heavier player to rehab in half the time.

It's too bad that Adelman is a player's coach. He gives his players too much rope to hang themselves, sometimes.

This is going to be a painful wait until the deadline.

I have the feeling that we are going to be left out to dry again come draft night. Waiting for that big blockbuster move and coming up with that white kid from Arizona?

Remember when Morey said he would replace Landry through the draft? I think he's looking at Cousins or Favors.

Wow, the Nets would get robed in that deal... with that said, I really don't care if they go after Favors as long as they don't go after Cousins, whom I think the rockets are going to make a strong push for.

    har har! ;)

Cousins wasn't competing in the drills.. he just did the measurements and stuff. That's why you haven't heard much about him.

I recorded the predraft camp bits on NBAtv today.. so I will have to watch and see what they show.

Patterson did a few good interviews though... lord how i wouldn't love him to be a Rocket

Is cousins really the better choice? Isn't favors considered more raw but with a higher ceiling?
