We need a shooter to fill the absence of Delfino. Turk is old, but he won't be asked to move around much, just stand at the 3pt line and make shots. Howard, Harden, and Parsons will draw enough attention from the defense. Without a solid markman, this team won't go anywhere because we won't be able to prevent teams from double teaming and playing hack-a-dwight. We need a veteran marksman on this team.
The man will not play defense. Do you understand there are two sides on each court? I would rather take my chances with Dwight shooting two free throws than Turk shooting an open three, LOL! You act like Turkey will lead us to the finals. You do realize the Rockets will be lucky to make it past the second round this season. Dwight may or may not play like his old self and if we get last season Dwight then we aren't automatically a lock for the WCF.
i shiver at the thought of having Turk now.....then i throw up if the thought continues. no thank you
Defense is all about team chemistry and effort, spoken by Greg Popovich. These guys need time together and spilled blood before they will ever be a great defensive team. Harden joined our team last season less than a week before our opening game. Now, we have Howard, and the team has a REAL offseason to work together and get better defensively. If we keep Asik, we have the BEST one/two punch at center in the entire NBA. Defense is only as good as the the guys you have defending the painted area. We have those guys now. What we need....are sharpshooters to help improve team efficiency on offense. We don't have those.
I wouldn't even sign this guy for the minimum, simply to avoid the potential ridicule Dwight would endure for having to play with the same personnel he meant to escape in Orlando.
He was known for his 3 pt shooting but Turk used to be a pretty good point forward/playmaker in Orlando when Dwight was there. He's terrible right now though. I'm surprised he was able to get 17 mins/game but then again the Magic were probably trying to tank anyway.
You're surprised he was only able to get 17 mins on a team that was gutted and moving towards a youth movement, in a rebuilding phase? LOL. You atleast need to maintain the illusion that you're trying to win games.... Give Turk a real supporting cast and he will hit his shots.
I'm surprised he got that many minutes at all..and then I acknowledged yeah they're probably tanking so it makes sense so way to ignore that. He ended up only playing 11 games last season anyway.
I would give him a tryout at minimum veteran's contract, but his FTs pct. has been down every year. A career 38% 3 point shooter is what the Rockets need. He could be our Mike Miller.
I can't see the purpose of this. The guy has essentially finished his NBA carreer. The Rockets are a very young team playing fast and enthusiastic basketball. There is no need for an old and rusty player. Didn't he also have some drug related issues causing suspension?
If he could play halfway decent defense, I'd be all about this. At least right now. That said, given the Dwight connection and the type of system we run, you can probably expect to hear Turkeyglue's name being linked to the Rockets for as long as he remains a free agent. For what it's worth, the Mavs won a championship with a defensively-challenged Peja out there playing rotation minutes. Perhaps we'll have a similar need for a tall 3 pt specialist somewhere down the road.
I don't see why not. It would actually be a nice gesture toward Dwight to bring in Turkoglu since they had such good chemistry in Orlando...
I think we should do the Anderson for Asik trade and then use the money left over to trade for Lee. I just don't see Boston doing Asik/Lin and picks for Rondo. I think they could get a better deal from Detroit and I don't think they want to deal him. Coach Stevens and Rondo seem to be on each others side right now. If we're going to trade for a PG it should be Dragic, Walker, or Jeff Teague. Thats just my opinion though....
