One factor that distinguishes Hedo is he has the ability to make a play off the pick with the dribble. He's worth taking a look at for the minimum.
Why is this in the GARM? I hope you don't want the Rockets to sign this dude. He's been straight up awful for the last few years. In freefall. Not nearly as good as he was on the 09 Magic team. And why does everyone want to mimic the 09 Magic team?? Just cause they had Dwight Howard? They lost the championship in 5 games, which means they obviously weren't good enough. We need to be better than the 09 Magic team. And btw the team that beat them in 5 was the same Laker team that we took to 7.
Yeah, we could sure use that 2.9 pts he provided off the bench last year. Plus, he's a top defender and can run like a deer to keep up with our young, fast team. And don't overlook his amazing 3-pt shooting last year: 29 shots, 1 (ONE!) make. The only reason we haven't jumped at the chance to sign Turkoglu is that Morey probably fainted when he looked at the advanced metrics on him.
There is absolutely no benefit or upside that would outweigh him taking up a roster spot and vet min. For his lack of production, I would rather have the roster we have and now you can have your two "second year" guys developing that rotation.
What two second year guys are going to develop in the rotation that Turkoglu is going to take minutes and/or a roster spot from? It'd be pretty easy to fit him without losing anyone worth a spot on the roster (Anderson and TO are completely expendable). Assuming he's in shape and motivated, he could be very productive surrounded by the existing talent. He'd be easy to cut making the minimum, too. He could easily not be worth it, but to claim there is no upside is ridiculous.
He will receive a huge buyout from the Magic so I don't think he will care too much about signing for the biggest paycheck. I like signing him for the vet. minimum but no more than that. He is a great long range shooter, even if he has lost a step. Would be a great long range/corner 3 shooter on the kick out.
