What? Why would OKC do this? Horford is a terrible contract especially for a rebuilding team. I assume OKC was planning to rebuild but guess not?

of course they're rebuilding but you still have a minimum salary threshold on the team. you don't field a team pennies. Horford and Adams who has a year left are their highest paid players. they got even more picks. its ridiculous the amount they have

They still have to meet the salary floor. They aren't going to pay tax so the contract is ok for them.

They got a couple of picks for taking back a bad contract, that's exactly what a tanking team would do, maybe you misunderstood, they're not moving picks for Horford.

Okc: more draft picks. take on salary for a decent player to hit the min. threshold. man okc is going to draft to themselves at this rate

Philly: Danny Green. get rid of a bad contract who doesn't fit

Both teams benefit in their respective ways

No I get it. You say they got a couple of picks but what they really got is a late first round pick and a late 2nd round pick that is worthless assuming these are Philly's picks and not some other team. Green has some value on his own. My point is they should have held out for at least 2 1st round picks for taking on Al Horford's contract. The going rate just a couple of years ago was 2 1st's to unload Ryan Anderson so we held on to him. I realize Horford is an actual serviceable player but still seems surprising that the 76ers actually get a good piece in return and only give up a late 1st and late 2nd.

OKC underestimating the value of an expiring Danny Green IMO.

Took Morey like 2 weeks to shed a huge contract while adding youth and shooting to a team that needs it

Tilman really ran this guy off. Amazing.
