I agree, except the bolded. However, we want to keep trying to build our airplane engines mid flight.
Yeah, I very much disliked the inefficient, garbage style of play we saw from Wall before his injury....he played a lot like Westbrook. That's why I want him to play differently when he comes back, especially given his return from injuries. It would be smart to evolve his game, and that's what he's been saying he's trying to do for more than a year now. You know who also couldn't shoot the ball at age 30? Jason Kidd. He went on to finish in the top 10 in 3 pointers all time. He was a 32% 3 point shooter from the start of his career to age 30, a 37% 3 point shooter from age 31 on. That's what I want from Wall, and that's what he's been saying has been his goal for over a year now.
That trade didn’t make a lot of sense to me because they’re so similar in game. Obviously Russ is more decorated with accolades, a little older. - Matt Barnes Harden’s style of play, ...John is about as pure a point guard you have in the league. He needs the ball. We all know Harden’s usage rate on the ball. It’ll be interesting to see that dynamic because one of them has to change. I don’t see Wall running the lane, running to the corner, spot up threes. - Paul Pierce James has a choice. Does he just want to be one of the all time great scorers offensively or actually try to win a championship? It’s up to him. The next step is coming off the ball more, knowing that anytime you want, you can get your shot but let the team play and flow and let everyone else get going so it’s not always three guys looking at you. When and if he decides to take that next step, they’ll be in contention but I like what they’ve done. - Matt Barnes
Basically says what some of us already knew. Wall fits better in Houston than Westbrook did because he's a better catch and shoot player.
That right there sums up exactly why I think this Houston team is going to be scary. John Wall is "as pure a pg you have in the league" Westbrook was not. John wall can also play off the ball a bit. The trade made sense for both teams!
According to Bill Simmons the trade was basically agreed to before the draft I guess Cousins did know Wall was on the way
It's pointless to go back and forth on things we have numbers on. His catch and shoot numbers are easy to find.
This has probably been posted already but just in case, been hearing reports of Wall hitting 95 straight 3 pts in a workout. I also heard another report saying 185 straight. Whichever it is, it's a lot.
I’m not a fan of Russ as a player beyond the highlights but I like and respect him as a man and a father.
To ask Russ about winning a championship in Washington is comical. He’s just here for a year or two to later join a super team to win a championship.
