I guess a combination of some uptempo P&R style play, combined with McHale's Hall-of-Fame big-man credentials, and a more player-friendly personality (Parsons might have laid it on thick on Jim Rome Show with, "Yeah, Coach is a teddy bear, he's a cuddly-wuddly fwiendwy kinda coach"; okay, I think he just said "teddy bear" or "lovable" or some such) would be what they want DH12 to see.

Obviously playing for McHale who is known as having one of the best offensive post games in the history of the game is a big selling point to Dwight. His weaker aspect has always been his post game, and while he has worked with Hakeem that is only a few sessions. With McHale as his coach he will have access to him every day for long stretches at a time. I thought that was pretty obvious as to why the Rockets declined permission for the Celtics to speak to him. The chance to have an every day, hall-of-fame offensive mentor is a huge factor for Dwight I would imagine.

agreed. it looks like Rox are its way up and Celtics are its way down. McHale is not a good coach but not stupid.

Like I said, media creation. WOJ probably playing connect the dots, asked the Rockets, got told no and ran a story.
