Christian Wood still does not have a contract and he is one of the most efficient players in the league. KJ is nothing special, just happened to play for a bad team that he was allowed to put shots up.
None of this is true. Ja Morant flashed a gun on camera, TWICE. KPJ is the scapegoat for ignorant fans who project their societal beliefs onto certain players
Was this somehow necessary to make room to sign Brooks? Somebody smart explain the rationale behind this one so I can at least understand the thought process
Was hoping we could get a player back at least. 2 seconds I guess will have to do. KJ Martin kind of sucks and any uproar about it is equivalent to the absolute silliness of the shield that was held up for him. Entitled behavior, very average production and he wants a contract extension lol... How he managed to escape the needling of CF posters while even the likes of Garuba caught hell is baffling.
Bro and his dad openly discussed frustration about not starting or whatever. Its obvious they are trying to set a culture. Some young barely average player on his rookie contract cant be making demands and ****. He got shipped likely because of this. Sending a message.
Uhm...this gives more of a opportunity to Whitemore. We can't develop everyone. Seems to me we could have got more for him, but I understand the logic. Didn't he ask out last season? It's my understanding he didn't want to stay.
Those 2 second round picks can turn into 2 first round picks. Lol KJ was overrated here. A tweener that doesn't have a high ceiling.
The media is pretty much conditioned to think that if the Rockets sign someone = bad. If the Rockets have someone on the roster they are = bad. Until they get traded away from the Rockets then they are = good.
Lol he is probably the highest leaper in the league, at least Top 8 In Game dunker. At least that is special, he also cuts and moves pretty well.
I guess I'm just trying to say he had a rotation spot due to the circumstances. I agree, he can find open spots and he can jump high, that's good, but he needs a lot more skill if he will ever amount to more than 7th to 9th man on a good team.
I realized with Green and Amen you have that part covered.....he is still a strong young dude which I cannot say about Green. People were complaining about Tari not making layups, I am sure KJ can make layups and dunks. I was not fan of his dad so I do not know if he could find another mentor who would show him tricks.
The criticism of the deal is fair. It's not the train wreck that some CF posters think it is, but the apparent desperation for the trade for a so-so return seemed unnecessary. Martin was clearly going to be headed out, especially after Whitmore got drafted, and I didn't expect them to get a first or an incredible asset in return. But it didn't feel like they needed to rush it. However, I do question why the Knicks get a B+ for making a very similar deal with Indiana by getting two seconds for Obi Toppin.
One can argue that KJ has been playing better than Obi. KJ outplays his draft position and Obi is a semi-bust. But it's kind of hard to compare because of the vastly different contexts. I'd say they both are about the 8th best player on an average team. If the Rockets got the best they could for KJ, then it might show that in today's market, a fringe rotation player is worth no more than a couple of 2nd rounders. I mean, if you get a player on these two guys' level in the second round, you should be quite pleased. I guess draft picks worth more before they are actualized.
