18 year old Cam is KJ with a handle and nice offensive skills overall. Also a bigger defensive package than KJ. KJ is extremely limited and over valued by Rox fans. He's pretty close too as good as he'll ever be.
I don't think we would've traded KJ if Cam Whitmore didn't fall into our laps at the 20th spot. I'll miss his energy, tenaciousness, and crazy hops--but I honestly think his ceiling is quite a bit lower than Cam's, and someone had to be the odd man out. KJ's a walking highlight reel, though. I appreciate the fun he's brought to three lackluster seasons.
ESPN says Houston received two first-rounders for KJ -- https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/37873434/nba-trade-tracker-grades-details-all-deals-2023-24 That is definitely wrong......................no way it is right..........maybe half right?
https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2023/07/rockets-to-trade-kenyon-martin-jr-to-clippers.html This link cites the specific second round picks involved
I disagree with you but open-minded and curious why you think he's close to as good as he'll ever be?
Going to be 23 years old this season and I don't see him adding the handle this late. Also he be done growing.
I see no reason at all why his game can't continue to grow and evolve. Just another horrible trade...
serious and professional attitude. Will have a long NBA career. Not out of the question to develop some ball skills and get to Jeremy Grant's level eventually. Grant is $30M/yr player, don't forget, so that would be a tremendous career path for a #52 pick
Wow! So I posted this and it got me to look up Grant's dossier, and discover a super-peculiar piece of NBA trivia. Did you know that: Jeremy Grant was traded to OKC for a 2020 FRP and then later OKC traded him for another 2020 FRP, AND These picks were used to draft TyMaxey and Ime Quickley? Two Grant trades in 2016 and 2019 yielded Kentucky's talented backcourt in 2020 fascinating
forced his way out to play as a backup to has beens on team w/ no draft picks or future going forward smh
Hopefully he does well with the Clippers. We had a lot of patience with him as a rookie. I don’t know if the Clippers will treat him the same.
I wish him all the best but Houston just picked KJ ver. 3.0 When KJ came into the league he could not do any of what Cam is doing except dunk. He still can't do a lot of what Cam is doing at 22.
With all due respect…..you are HORRIBLY WRONG!!! Basically cutting KJM for zippo (two end of second round picks) was the worst trade I have ever seen this organization make. Per my posts, it’s no secret I wanted the Rockets to take Cam, but be clear that this giveaway will haunt the organization for years to come.
