I'm jealous we didn't make the trade for Wiseman.

At least it's not nothing. I actually have liked Stone's approach of using aging veterans to improve existing assets rather than acquiring additional assets. The Rockets have too many players and not enough spots in the rotation as it is. If you can move Gordon for 2-3 second rounders who will never get playing time or move up 5+ spots in the first round, I'd take the latter all day.

Obviously another first round pick would have been best, but I never thought they were getting a first for Gordon, so improving a first round pick and freeing up playing time for young guards is almost a best case scenario. This is probably a B- or C+ trade, but it's better than watching Gordon sulk for 30+ minutes a game while eating up playing time from younger players.

Warriors gave up on 131 million in tax payments related to Wiseman.

They are also an injury away from the lottery which could land us Wembanyama in some bizarro world.

    Edit: nvm pick is protected

Yup not interested in that. I want more flexibility in the draft and in upcoming free agency.

Once they know where the next pick slots in and position to better target with veterans.

Also what if they end up #3 or #4 and they want Scoot thinking it is a future changing move with a decade of repercussions. Having a higher pick makes that easier. Decreasing the chances you have to give up Sengun or Eason.

Instead you trade TyTy Garuba Clippers pick & a Nets swap or something.

Or… you get Victor W and you are sitting at #19 and want to draft Cason Wallace a PG that looks perfect to pair with Green. A quite good defensive guard that can has decent passing as well. Moving up go get him would be much easier.

I think it’s the prefect move if you get a chance to move up. Now if they start winning a lot that sucks though

WOW..... so the Rockets had to take almost 7 million dollars in dead money in 2023-2024 AND Eric Gordon.... and didn't even get a #1 pick.

    Well....

Is the swap lottery protected? Or no?

Like if the Clippers fall apart and end up in the play in and lose or something would we get another lottery pick?

Hopefully they buy him out or someone else picks him up off of waivers. That would suck to take on that extra salary as they try to be a player in free agency this summer.

Gonna be all kinds of awkward when Wall meets the head honcho and Jalen lol.

We aren't going to be a player. We will get whatever is left over. Unless we are overpaying, no good FA is going to chose Houston.

Ironically, Bones had the most red flags of all of the prospects we reviewed, but team decided to take him any way. They put more emphasis on character this year.

this was terrible we needed something, a first round or a shooter. We should have traded Martin and Tate, Martin is wanting a big contract but he cannot shoot or an elite defender. This is his 3rd year…he is what he is…not a shooter

Gordon was either going for multiple seconds from Milwaukee or getting bought out, getting a swap for potentially +10 spots is great value. Stone may have fumbled on his most important pick in the draft but I’m not going to complain about this deadline.

Yeah, Bones has been having run-ins with the Nuggets coaching staff this year. A veteran team can deal with that but not a younger team. He is talented, it is telling that the Nuggets were willing to move him for very little.
