Listening to that, there is no chance JVG comes back to Houston especially when talking about the coach/owner and management all being on the same wave length.
Listening now. Like what he says about getting information from management, but thinks the coach should be allowed to take that info and do what they feel is best. Morey should take note, I think. He also says that he knows if he coaches again that he has to be better offensively. I'm convinced, I'd love to have JGV back. It really sounds like he's put great thought in today's game and becoming a better all around coach. I believe JVG is ready to come back.
Relatively rare to have that level of cohesion in any sport. He should have taken that Texas A&M job offer if that's what he requires. He doesn't need to take note, he's already been able to apply that philosophy before. Contrary to popular belief Morey's tenure did not coincide with the hiring of Kevin McHale.
Didn't Morey want to extend JVG but Les wanted a more Suns-like offense to sell tickets and such? I think Morey and JVG would work well together, much better than Morey and Adelman.
Morey didn't just want to extend JVG, I believe he attempted to. The extension was on the table waiting to be signed by JVG. JVG needed time to think it over. The offer was soon rescinded (I imagine Les was irked).
Morey and JVG work well together? Whaaat?! Morey coaches from the GM seat. JVG ain't trying to have that.
The past is not the present. I wasn't trying to be critical, though I hope he values a good coach. It's been said he doesn't, I'm not sure whether that's true or not. I'm also not a Morey hater, i'm definitely a supporter. He has not been a perfect GM, but imo he's been damn good overall.
