    Les wrote the contract. Leslie probably knew how dumb Tilman was and didn't give a **** if Morey bounced.

    You're assuming that this was voluntary at all. Let me spin you a tale that also fits the facts:

    Tilman tells Morey he's gone, either explicitly or constructively
    Morey offers to save him buyout money by voluntarily departing in exchange for a release
    Tilman jumps at this because he's cheap and knows firing Morey would be unpopular
    Morey gets hired immediately (so the buyout money wouldn't have been paid anyway) and makes Tilman look like an idiot

    firing him is also dumb, there is tons of precedent with executives and coaches being traded. He is a valuable asset. Regardless, this is a bad move.

    Houston was a poor FA destination pre-Morey. I think Philly will do just fine.

    Firing him is the exact kind of dumb that we expect from Frittata. With the rest of his portfolio he needs every dollar he can squeeze out of the Toyota Center and that means doing whatever it takes to get those China bucks flowing again. He's gonna be taking the Olajuwon jerseys off the rafters to pawn them before all this is over.
