This trade makes no sense for the Clippers. Rondo and Bev are worth more to me than Bledsoe, especially in the playoffs. Memphis should hold on to one of them if they can.
This is a win for the Clippers. They get the best player in the trade. Nothing spectacular, but an improvement, nonetheless. Memphis breaks a large contract into 2 smaller easier to move or waive contracts.
terrible trade for clippers. They lose depth and all for savigns. This saves them 30 million in tax...but remember folks, they are still paying close to 100 million in tax...thats right...without a gurantee for the finals i wonder if their fans mind for steve balmer.... Anyways, i suppose leonard is out for most the season and they are making it practical...but beverly and hwat he brings is very hard to fit. They are hoping bledsoe has some ressurgance as his defense is strong but he can find his way to turn back time as a PG. Its a bet and with their inflexiblity they had to make somethinnng and could look like geniuses if bledsoe returns to form. This was probably a way cheaper alternative and less risk than trading for Wall. which I believe beverly/Luke/Rondo would do the job unless a trade exception allows it to make it 2/3. ah well
Eh, Grizz are a young team that could use one of those vet guys to help keep things more stable there. Clippers could use another guy that can get their own and not a terrible defender. I think it makes sense for both teams. Bledsoe is currently better than both of those guys. Beverly is and always been overrated, Rondo is only useful (sometimes) in the playoffs. Both of them are super replaceable and probably have more use as just locker room vet guys which I'm sure Memphis needs.
Both Rondo and Bev were completely useless last year in the playoffs so I guess it's a marginal upgrade at least for the Clipps and they get to roll the dice with a younger guy. Don't think tax savings really factors in much for the richest owner in the NBA. I like this trade because it at least shuts down all the "Clippers will trade for Wall" nonsense.
To be technically correct, they only added 1 PG - they send 1 out and got 2 back, so they only added 1 extra PG in the deal. All the guys they got are expiring, so there is that - just offloads the deal of Bledsoe for them. Not sure what the Clippers are doing? I don't see how Bledsoe is better than Reggie Jackson, so it is basicall a par move in terms of position. I guess they now have 48 minutes of scoring mentality point guard on the roster?
Balmer has enough money to buy the NBA. Yep that’s right, not just a team but all the teams! And he’d still be a multi billionaire. So I don’t want to hear about a tax bill for the Clippers because Balmer’s pockets are HISTORICALLY deep!
I honestly believe the Clippers should rebuild the Team and hit the Lottery. Kawhi Leonard is injured half a season. Paul George now has value, you can get more young assets and picks for him. But Paul is injury prone. The Clippers need to invest in scouting and player development. I think they getting a new stadium also. Plus they should change the team name.
Clippers got rid of all the players who disliked and were vocal about Kawhi’s preferential treatment: Trez, Lou & Beverley.
