Memphis and New Jersey have been engaged in trade talks centered on guard O.J. Mayo, but a deal appears unlikely, league sources tell Y!

Nets-Grizzlies talks included scenarios for Anthony Morrow and a pick for O.J. Mayo, but discussions have lost traction, sources tell Y!

Damn dude I would give them Kevin Martin for OJ Mayo. Not that I'm too high on Mayo but getting a young shooting guard with upside is a great value for Kevin Martin.

O.J. Mayo's always reminded me of Cat Mobley (though he's not left-handed). I've always been a fan of his.

Has Morrow's defense gotten appreciably better? I seem to remember him being atrocious on that end.

We can offer better than Morrow..

But I guess it all depends on what pick that may be.

Memphis is the one rejecting that deal. NJ is the one trying to get it done.

I feel like it would have been one overrated player for another. Morrow's defense is horrific, and OJ is what exactly? Does he have a single elite skill besides shooting and making contested 20 footers?

It's completely unbelievable how badly Memphis has drafted, yet they resuscitate Z-Bo's career and are now contenders. Memphis has basically gotten as much out of the draft the past 5 years as Minnesota did from 2001-2005, when Stern stripped them of their picks in the Joe Smith Fiasco.

2011: Donatas Motiejunas (Traded for 5 games of Ronnie Brewer)
    2010: Greivis Vasquez (Traded)
2010: Dominique Jones (Traded for Cash Considerations)
    2010: Xavier Henry (Traded)
    2009: Demarre Carroll (Traded)
    2009: Hasheem Thabeet (Traded)
    2008: Darrell Arthur
2008: OJ Mayo (Traded for Kevin Love)
    2007: Mike Conley Jr.

And now they're angling to get rid of Mayo. So in 5 years and 4 lottery picks, they manage to get 1 starter and one very good backup. For Morey, that's called the second round.

I know Martin is in the hot seat and you and a bunch of other posters dislike him... but please don't make proposals where we get raped, have some dignity for the love of God.

i would do twill for mayo or kmart for mayo just to do something. We need someshake up or potential going. That said, I would still do it even though I don't see mayo as a savior or long term solution, I don't see where his game is going up from here, but its still a change
