Too bad the Mavs have no assets.

2nd round pick, Brunson, Justin Jackson.

Knicks is more interesting to me than boston.

Partly because I think if kyrie leaves which looks possible I don’t see them giving up Tatum in a deal.

The rockets package is all about winning now for the pelicans but the real kicker is having that unprotected 1st round pick 6 years from now when most likely the rockets are one of her worst teams in the league with harden either retired or in his 16th year and not very good.

Not worth it. I like Brunson, but I'm not gonna agree to helping the Mavs in any way. Clint can play against almost anyone apart from GS.

To be fair .... I'm as big of a believer in CP3 as anyone here , but at his age and his salary ..., if the lakers have you ball and one of : Kuzma , Ingram , or the number 4 ... I would take that **** almost in a heartbeat .

The one expection being If we were HIGHLY confident in landing butler for only Clint and nene (in some sort of 3 team deal maybe)

It opens up SOME cap space this year , not enough to sign a max guy , but maybe we can use that space to keep rivers and bring in another ~10 mil level contributor .

**** I might do it just for ball or Ingram . (Even if both have questions )

Both players individually will likely not be as good as Paul next season . Even if Paul takes another small step back , he's still a capable #3 for a contender , albeit overpaid.

Anything the lakers send us would not be proven and the given player(s) would have serious , exploitable holes in their game ... they are just young , it's what happens .

But with 2 players vs one , you have double the shot for development . Even if you only get 1 player you also open up space to keep rivers and bring in an additional player . It's a move that probably lowers your floor next season , but might raise your ceiling if we correctly use the new cap space and the lakers asset(s) develop .

However , I don't think the lakers would ever do it . They have cap space to sign a max guy outright , all of whom are younger than Paul (who showed serious decline last year )

They would have to get rejected by most of their top list of FA's AND get spurned by other teams to whom they could offer their full complement of assets for a player like AD.

If I was a Utah fan (shudder) I would be frustrated too lol .

Assuming we don't pull off a butler or 3rd star type of deal , this type of move positions us better for the future than standing pat AND raises our ceiling a bit outside of a CP3 resurrection .

    Rivers/ball
    Harden/Gordon
    Ingram / FA
    Pj / FA
    Clint / isiah

In the case they don't give us Ingram we simply find the best player for whatever's left after resigning rivers . Someone told me earlier that moving CP3 for nothing gives us 25 mil in cap space . So if we get ball we have about 20 . I Figure 10 for rivers and 10 for a good quality 3/4 . Jamychal Green would be perfect .

Sure your second option isn't as good , but you now have 2-3 additional options that figure to be around starter level .

Like I said , lakers would never do it

Morey's being aggressive. Well, Hell, that changes everything, since normally he's very passive.

But he's already there and when he's healthy he's a top 5 talent. Gordon is a role-player who wasn't worth the money or assets it'd take to acquire him.

Keeping AD with Zion could build a championship foundation if they re-tool their roster correctly. If they don't keep AD, I think it'd be in the Pelicans best interest to kickstart Zion's career with a veteran play-maker. That's where CP3 would come into play. Gordon was never that leader in the locker room.

Would the lakers willing to trade Lebron for Harden???

Lebron pairing with CP3 and he gets to pick his head ccoach? MDA extension has been stalled this maybe a perfect storm cooking.

AD was healthy even after he said he didn't want to be in NO anymore. and what happened after it was a circus. lets play him for 20 mins a game just to save some kind of face. he could be the best player in the world. it still wouldn't matter if he doesnt want to be there at all.

holiday is solid pg. they're not going to sign another one to put him next to him. certainly not an aging cp3 with $40+ for years. what does gordon not being a leader have to do with anything? AD is no leader either obviously

Some people here seem mad Morey is being aggressive and always is. Pretty sure that's what I want from my GM.

The only time I recall him being quiet and even suggesting he would be quiet was the year we won 65.

Y'all want him to pull a superstar every trade deadline lol.

Possibly not... I just think it's one of the most realistic suitors if we are able to get rid of CP3's contract. The other question is does Morey pull the trigger if all he gets in return is a bunch of expiring contracts. It would clamp our title window shut right when Golden State's dynasty is due to shake up.

Regardless, Holiday and CP3 are both hybrid guards who are capable of playing with another guard. CP3 has done it for two seasons now and Jrue has played a lot of SG as well.

personally, don't think cp3/harden are going anywhere. both are hybrid guards but still makes no sense for nop to me.

capela/eg are the pieces to go before anything else

If James Harden was willing to play off the ball for stretches, Chris Paul could still be the all-star teammate he needs. CP3’s athleticism is declining, but his court vision and ability to run a team are second to none. He’s one of the best pure point guards of all time and court vision and a high basketball IQ are not things that decline with age. That’s the elephant in the room, and other than trading Clint Capela for another playable piece against the Warriors, it’s the easiest way the Rockets can improve. Making CP3 a spot up three point shooter/secondary ball handler is a poor use of his skills. However, if Harden remains unwilling to do so, then exploring trades for CP3 makes sense. The problem is Chris Paul still has much more value to the Rockets than anything they would get back in a trade because of his expensive contract.

The other thing they can do is give James games off here and there. I appreciate that he’s a hooper and loves to play, but more rest heading into the playoffs would help him and the team when it truly matters.
