Nelly demoted himself for a game when he was too hungover to coach against the Spurs.

In regards to 5 million "is considerably less that what .... got "

    No it isn't .

Stotts got "an average of" 5 million a year whatever the hell that means

Casey got 7 million , which is more yes ... but maybe the incentives didn't tip out as much .

MDA is basically guaranteed 6 if he doesn't completely **** the bed. Harden alone is enough to get you past the first round ... unless you come in at the 8 seed or something . But , MDA doesn't have to worry about that ... he has James to ride to make sure we are at worst 4-6 . James won't peter out until after the first round anyways , the guy is superhuman .

Let's just say if I was MDA's position and almost 70 years old and I was getting 6 mil a year for free then I'd take it and run .

I would LOVE Nelly to be the coach here. Hilarity would ensue every night.

Get used to hearing a lot from the Rockets.

Everyone already knows that Daryl Morey likes to talk to the press.

Just wait, Tilman doesn't hold back. He is going to stick his foot in his mouth.

I agree. At worst, he'd get paid $6 million even with this current roster. I think this is a reaction to how TIlman is conducting business because, maybe, coaches never had to jump through hoops like this, especially after having the seasons they've had under MDA.

Bring in Cassell or Battier and part ways with MDA. I'm sure either wouldn't balk at $4-5 mill a year.

MDA wanted 3 years, not one.

I don't an issue with this. You get a competitive base salary and if you meet your expectations you get extra money.

Tilman is actually more likely to make trades because he is more emotional and less risk adverse than Les Alexander. The question is whether or not he will make SMART trades.

I like incentive structures like this, but it would make MDA's compensation highly dependent on elements wholly outside of his control. If Harden tears his ACL, MDA loses millions. If Morey thinks Carmela Anthony is going to be the third star for the championship run, MDA loses millions. If Portland tanks a critical end-of-season game to jockey for better playoff positioning, MDA loses millions.

Well if that is indeed the case that ain't great. Alignment is needed. If Tilman doesn't want MDA then he should just eat the money and get his preferred coach. Otherwise you just waste a year.

Well , I mean .... are they going to eventually fire him ?

Or is not paying him the $ for free more important ?

MDA does not believe himself to win ring next year.
If I were mda, I don’t want any salary, but 15 million ring bonus.
Ring is more important than money. It’s easy to get a job when u have a ring.

If Tilman did not want MDA to coach the Rockets........ then MDA would not still be the head coach of the Rockets.

4.5 million dollars is not enough for the Rockets to stop from firing a coach they want fired.

Tilman talked championship and repeat championship. mda signal that he can’t be good in playoffs.
Tilman likes championship based performance contract. Tilman said mda plays hardball.

    It’s a championship expectation contract.

So he feels lowballed......I had to chuckle.

Mike isn't dumb, he knows the roster will undergo some changes, and the playoffs could be in danger too...you never know with injuries.

I think 3.5 million would be a better deal, without making the playoffs. Contigency or not.

The offer is that if they dont make the playoffs or if they decide to fire him mid season, he only gets 2.5 mil. Its hard to say wether its unreasonable or not.
