I'd be surprised if the Magic care much at all about the positions they get back in a deal. If they deal Howard, they're rebuilding. I don't think they care that much about a stop-gap center to keep them afloat and potentially a 7 or 8 seed in the East. They're going to want the best talent available with the most high-end potential and future cap flexibility. That's not a deal for Brook Lopez and scraps.

I think he is more likely to be dealt to the West...I think the Magic would be silly to keep him in the same conference, it wouldnt do them any good to have to face Howard more often than not.

We should trade for Dwight and trade for another star Jsmoove/Gay/Gordon he want leave Houston and the extra 30mil.

Make it happen Houston,we become a legit contender out west.

If I'm Orlando, wouldnt a trade involving Donuts, Lamb, White, Jones, Parsons, Lowry, and some picks seem more enticing than what any other team is offering?

Of course, that would be asking for too much if youre the rockets.

If we trade for him then expect us to take on hedo contract...that will prob put us out of chance to get another big name player...is having Howard alone going to be enough for us to really be contenders after we deal our best players and have no cap for signing anyone

Because they've already been through one whole season of headaches, if they can get an offer they really like then why go through those headaches again?

with the nets resigning wallace and a near completion for joe johnson, they will be out of the running for dwight if deron resigns. Dallas has nothing to trade to orlando because they let all their players go lol. Unless OKC or Lakers give up their star players, Houston will be dwights next home so we all can see him sit out almost entire season out of anger. He will pull a derek fisher on us

Huh? We have nothing but long term assets. We just had three top 18 picks in what is considered to be a deep draft full of players with high ceilings. Our rookies from last year are intriguing because of their potential. Parsons looks like a premier perimeter defender that received praise from Kobe. Morris has the tools to evolve if given playing time. Our best vet players are under 30 years old minus Scola, whom is still crafty at 32 years old.

Kyle Lowry is probably going to be the proven piece in a trade package for Howard. Throw in future first round picks and a few of our young players with potential. That's a package that covers all aspects of rebuilding. Proven talent under 30, potential talent and future first round pick(s).

In fact, considering Howard will bolt Orlando and the gossip that he would leave Houston, we have a trade package that actually be overpaying for Howard.

Oh by the way, none of the contracts we have are overpaid. No bad contracts thanks to the GM you perceive to be misleading. In fact, there is GREAT value in most contracts on this team. So, yet ANOTHER long term solution for Orlando that you overlooked: we can take back bad their bad contracts like Hedo and Richardson.

Again, I pose the question: who an offer a better package than the Rockets AND is willing to rent Dwight Howard if it that worst case scenario played out next offseason?

Not to Morey. He's just cocky enough to do it.

Yea he wont leave all that money behind because he wont be able to get another contract again. Take advantage of that! I mean a player of his caliber will have a hard time playing else where, say perhaps, like somewhere he wants to be at!

The Nets have nothing to offer the Magic. What is D H thinking? D H and his agent do not understand the business side of basketball. He could have been a free agent this summer if he wasnt such a dumb ____.

If the Nets are out the picture, I see Dwight working with Orlando to work out a deal with the Lakers.

In both Orlando and Dwight's book, Lakers > Rockets, in both assets and playing destination. But I wonder what the Lakers would be willing to give up for Dwight? Maybe Gasol, expiring's and picks with Lakers taking on some bad contracts.

It depends what the Orlando GM is thinking, whether he wants the best overall package, or a cornerstone piece. If the latter, and the Lakers throw in Bynum, it's over for the Rockets. Likewise, teams that can pop into the picture out of the blue like Boston (Rondo) may trump our overall package because of that player alone.

There is also the potential that Dwight gives up hope on joining the Nets, and widens his willing to extension list to other teams (that doesn't include the Rockets).

Just thinking out loud, but I'm really getting the feeling something positive in the Rockets favor is going to happen.

No you can only amnesty someone who's contract you held when the new agreement went into place. So the Rockets, for example, could amnesty Martin or Scola but could not amnesty Livingston, if they wanted.

It is like the fly getting close to the zapper, it must get to the beautiful light:grin:

Seriously though if the Magic are serious about trading Howard it will be to the Rockets not unless the Lakers send them Bynum. The Lakers are the only ones who can throw a monkey wrench into Houston plans.

Opps I forgot now the Players Union can also screw things up if they can get Howard to become a Unrestricted FA but I doubt that.
