Houston is the last team standing again in the Dwight sweepstakes. Lakers easily jump in front as soon as they decide to let Bynum go to ORL for Howard.

The Johnson to BK trade would all but guarantee Dwight re-signs with Houston next offseason if he is traded here. Unless he is willing to sing for MLE or lower, the Nets are not an option anymore.

The only team I was worried about was GS. They were both willing to rent Howard and could offer a trade package better than Houston talent-wise. Now, they're not willing to rent him.

Houston is the last team standing ... again. Only this time, there is no option for Howard to "black mailed" and eliminate an ETO. It's just a matter of time.

The only thing that could get in the way now, as someone mentioned earlier, is if Dwight agrees to sign an extension now with Lakers instead of being dealt to Houston.

I think the Magic know what the Houston offer is and will be, for that reason. I don't expect Morey to low-ball Hennigan and offer less than he was a week ago, because Orlando could just hold onto Dwight for that much longer. That's their leverage. In the end, it cancels out.

Hennigan has had 10 days now to sample the Dwight landscape, both pre- and post-draft. I think he has a feel for the type of market there is. Odds are good that he wants to get a deal done sooner rather than later.

Even so, what can the nets offer the magic?

I'm betting they hold on to him now. Nothing cures bad feelings in sports like winning. Carlos Lee is a very good example right now. If the Astros were in contention these last few years, would any of us have noticed that he was one of the 100 highest paid athletes in the world? We sure as hell notice right now.

If Dwight returns and ultimately signs the extension, all will likely be forgiven when they're finishing in the top half of the East every year and potentially a couple pieces away from being a real contender.

I don't expect Morey to low ball...but he should not be offering the same package he was a week ago.

That Orlando roster isn't going to win. There's no chance Nelson stays in Orlando so long as Howard is on the roster. The Magic are terrible once you get past Anderson at this point.

i think LA ends up with Howard. Bynum and picks for Howard just makes too much sense.

    Picks??? Second rounders???

Oh, and Bynum has to sign an extension as well. And Orlando has to want the big brat after he basically threw in the towel on the Lakers this past season. That will be a stupid move for Orlando.

2nd best center in the game; averaged 12 rebounds, 2 blocks and 19 points while staying injury-free last year; and he's only 25. Makes a lot of sense to me.

If you are Orlando...why not just hold onto Howard?

Yeah he's hurt a lot of feelings but that can easily be remedied with an extension.

That's your opinion. I'm telling you as soon as Bynum signs his next max deal, his play will go in the toilet. He's driven by a paycheck, not by winning. Oh, and Dwight would have to agree to extend there or no deal by the Lakers.

That team is awful and they will never compete again with their current squad. They should trade him so they can tank and get a high lottery pick next season.
