Wait we can have both Dwight and Eric Gordon under max contracts on our team. Is that possible without going over the cap

    wish bima was here

We'd be giving back salary in both cases. It's very doable. Also, Gordon max is not as much as Dwight max. All we have to worry about is staying under the cap this year.

Feigen messaged me after tweeted him about the impact Asik has on the Dwight pursuit. not sure why he didn't just tweet back, but this is what he had to say:

"If they can land Howard, they would have to cut costs three years from now. But they obviously would do a Dwight deal if they can. "

he seems convinced that getting Dwight is still priority #1.

Gordon at max is just under 13 million. That's not a huge difference, but max for a player with less than 5 years experience is different than the max you hear for vet's.

The Rockets could conceivably add Omer Asik AND Eric Gordon AND Dwight Howard this offseason.

It will be extraordinarily difficult. But it's possible, cap-wise.

    And re-sign Dragic, right?

Is it possible that we organise a Dwight trade before July 11 and then not get Asik to sign the offer sheet?

That would be bush league. We aren't going to do that. A verbal agreement is as good as a written one unless you want the rest of the league/players to avoid you at all costs.

Would we have to do Dragic last though, since we'd have to wait until our cap situation is settled? Or would it not matter, since we are hypothetically acquiring all of these players through trades (besides Asik)?

People love to tear Morey a new one but we have one of the best cap situations in the NBA. Remember, many teams suck AND have big cap problems. Morey has kept us flexible and light. Ready to take advantage of any situation or big move that comes along.

@WojYahooNBA: Dwight Howard to Yahoo! Sports: I'll only re-sign with one team if traded, and says he never used term "blackmail:": http://t.co/61yH3ysr

Would he be willing to go to that team as a free-agent next season for the MLE after that team ties up all their money in contracts THIS season with Deron Williams, Gerald Wallace, and Joe Johnson?? CALL HIS BLUFF.

    Asik must be first.

After that, Rockets will likely be out of cap room. Then, it's on to trades.

At that point, they can re-sign Dragic, even before all the trades are completed.

At this point, it's almost like everything Howard does just gets him closer and closer to Houston.

I have a feeling a mystery team will swoop in with a better offer.

I say call this MF's bluff. Whoever trades for him will have the advantage of re-signing him money-wise and he knows it. That's why he desperately tried to get the PA to make him a FA. No way he walks away from that much money. Especially if Brooklyn ties up all their money on Johnson and Williams.

I wonder if jay-z says has a side deal with Howard for compensatory funding out of his own pocket outside of the NBA
