This would be a more reasonable deal. Howard has much higher value to them than to us, considering that Howard is much more likely to re-sign there.

    Here's the question:

What's the probability of getting Howard to return after 1 year? Is it higher or lower than the probability that at least 1 of the young guys you trade for him (among the likes of Lamb, White, Jones, Motiejunas, etc.) will blossom into a top 5 or even top 15 player in the NBA?

There are very few surefire personnel moves in the NBA and a ton of risky ones. You gotta take your chances as long as the expected value of the return is better than that of the alternative.

Yea but I don't want Howard as a rental if we end up getting him after deron signs with the nets. It would be useless then.

Orlando isn't willing to take the risk of him staying rather than get pieces to rebuild. Whether that's a smart decision will be seen years from now. But he's not taking 50 million dollars less to play somewhere than the team that acquires him. It's a game of chicken, and the Rockets have nothing to lose. Time to go all in, consequences be damned.

    U people crack me up.

We have a chance to get a top 5 player and the majority of you don't want him

because he's acting like a 15 year old girl.

Newsflash were not getting a top 5 player any other way. We got to jump on

this. This is our chance to put the Rockets back on peoples radar.

I think the only way we don't get Howard is if L.A offers Bynum.

Please let this Dwight fascination die....He doesn't want to come here...Just rebuild the OKC way...Wish the Rockets had the Texans mentality by building through the draft

I don't agree with this, an even if I did, I'd still make the trade. Its not like we are looking to trade for Gasol here. Dwight is a franchise player. An ELITE proven talent that looks to soon be out of options next summer. One of our guys making the allstar is not that great of an accomplishment compared to a guy like him.

The probability of Howard resigning is higher than having any of our draft becoming a 5 player in the league. My argument for that is Howard would be losing a considerable amount of money to move, obviously, and he would have a much better team than in Orlando: get J.Smith, Gordon or some other tier 2 player. The possibility of having any of our draft picks become a top 5 player is diminished by the number of PFs currently on our roster and the amount of time it takes to develop, if possible, a top 5 talent. My understanding of the Rockets organization was to compete in the NBA, not tank. And if you're tanking....they're doing it wrong.

You bring in Dwight Howard and then you get Chris Paul's attention. Paul, from rumors of course, is not 100% committed to the Clips as some have thought and could sign somewhere else in 2013.

Dude I don't want either...Dwight doesn't want nothing to do with Houston just accept it...Rebuild and play the young guys and draft better..no superstar is gonna magically say let me go to Houston and play for the Rockets..There is a greater chance of drafting a superstar or all star quality player

So because he's stated he only wants to play for the Nets...then you think he wants nothing to do with 29 other NBA teams? He's doing all he can right now to play with Deron. If thats not happening, then money talks...and Houston will have more than any team can offer.

I am annoyed by Dwight, but whoever acquires him, will keep him. Dwight has no leverage if Brookyln does re-sign Williams, Wallace, Lopez and manages to get Joe Johnson or Mayo or even Scola. They will be locked in cap wise. His chance was THIS off-season to get to Brooklyn, but lol, he opted in.
