Woj: JVG at the Forefront

The Rockets organization is a joke.

 

Yep the longer this drags out the more and more likelihood that it's gonna be someone who we don't like or approve of

 

This team feels like Old Yeller waiting to be put of its misery.

 

Give it time. Patrick Ferttita has been googling "how to coach basketball" the last few days and once he gets the whole bounce pass vs chest pass thing figured out, he will be named our coach.

 

Normalize blaming Les Alexander for selling Tilman the team.

 

Good lord. That takes me back! The line to see that at the Santa Rosa Theatre on Telephone Road was around the building.

 

And they still look like the Patriots organization compared to the Texans.

 

Like the Pat's organization THIS season.

 

Two excellent candidates. I hope it’s true. I wouldn’t be opposed to hiring them both, if possible.

 

Ok, I think I have it figured out deadline wise.

Tilman is waiting for OKC to make their hire. That way he has the bargaining chip to low ball whoever is remaining with offers. “This is the only vacancy left”..

He can also compare the cheap OKC offer to a young candidate (assuming due to their rebuild and cheap ownership)

Tilman wins in the long run by waiting on starting payments to the new staff as well...

 

It really sounds like it’s Silas’s job but Tilman just having issues signing off on it

 

After OKC makes their hire, the process will really start for HOU

 

Okc has to make a desicion soon tho. Don’t they want to use the The first round picks they have to draft a player?

 

Or maybe Silas is in a bidding war between Houston and OKC? Two low balling organizations

From this article, besides the usual Tilman is cheap jokes (which I do enjoy), JVG being comfortable with Rafael Stone seems like a pretty big deal for me and I can understand this being a reason why he hasn't been announced as a head coach yet. It's possible that JVG is valuating the pros/cons of leaving his cushy announcer job to the miseries of coaching again. If he is going to come back, he better damn well be on the same page with the new GM.

Maybe my theory is wrong, but I feel JVG is very much the front runner (I agree with WOJ), however, this significant hurdle is taking time to really play out. I don't blame him one bit. Ownership is iffy, Harden/Russ are 31, so we aren't talking about a long term deal here, likely a 2 year window to make any noise, and then we are back to re-building, which he would likely be part of and wants to be compensated accordingly.

 

If Silas is hired, take back your Harden slander. We are so ****ing lucky to have him here.

 

This is the absolute worst season to be integrating new head coach AND new system due to the short turnaround as well as all the uncertainties of salary cap and limitations due to pandemic.
