Yes sirs. It's been said here a number of times. Woj is the best for breaking news, but is bad for everything else. His opinion pieces are always way overboard and give the impression that he has a personal vendetta against whomever he's writing about.

Meh, Woj is a terrible biased journalist. A great news reporter, though.

Sounds like a bunch of jealous sports writers teamed up to write a hit piece.

I don't think the article said Woj was disliked around the league. He's disliked by ESPN reporters obviously and SOME people around the league, but he is obviously liked by many. The reason they like him is obvious: they give him what he wants and he'll give them fluff pieces.

He can influence perception so some sources will use him to boost their perception by giving him info. Morey should leak a trade to Woj in exchange for a James Harden=Good Defender article.

I think it was when he got scooped on Dwight choosing Houston. Or that is the incident Cyber said he freaked on.

The headline is confusing. Here it is sans the word smoothie, "Basketball's Biggest Reporter Is Waging War on ESPN—And He'll Do Stuff That ESPN Does to Win

IF doing what Woj does is as simple as threatening front offices with articles criticizing them, then everyone would do it. Woj's recipe for success must be more complicated than that.

I'm not sure they're as bothered by the hit pieces (remember his childish takedown of JR Smith?) than he remains powerful by being a mouthpiece for various agendas by leveraging his reputation and leadership.

There should be a House of Cards type show based around sports reporting.

" What makes Wojnarowski different from other reporters, and one of the reasons he privately draws such ire from them, is that he is allowed to write in a way they are not. Like Wojnarowski, ESPN’s Marc Stein—his biggest competitor—develops trusted relationships with sources that allow him to break a tremendous amount of news. The biggest difference between the two lies in Wojnarowski’s ability as a reporter-c*m-columnist to impact league and public perception of the people involved. Stein’s archive consists almost entirely of news pieces. Because he so infrequently mixes reporting and opinion—in fact, a common criticism of Stein (and ESPN more generally) is that his work is stilted by so many words being spent on the boring work of detailing what information was learned when and from which anonymous source—Stein cannot promote an executive like Dumars or criticize a player like LeBron James quite the way Wojnarowski can."

    ------------------------------

This is a complete joke, garbage.

Marc Stein's writings are more bias and his source of rumors sucks donkey ass.

I'm not surprised to hear the storyline of him writing negatively about guys who resist his scooping power. His columns are bad and read exactly like that's what is happening.

But sorry, you cannot use ESPN as your example of journalistic integrity when trying to sling mud at someone. I'll take the guy that gets results to the cadre of guys making random guesses until something sticks.

The reason some sports beat writers don't like Woj is he usually beats them to the big stories on their beat when they are full-time dedicated to that one team.

    Wow. What an article.

I actually found this part really funny!

But then the writer goes on to talk about the way that Woj has been critical of Lebron, sharing several links to things that Woj has written. And he puts this:

Really? All throughout the article you share multiple links to Woj's articles over years and years of writing in order to try to prove your point. Doesn't that just come across as very personal to whoever this no-name writer is? Like he is "very personally" jealous of what Woj has been doing and has scoured over years of his articles to try to disprove him.

His writing is the price he paid for the news.

I don't think he is a bad columnist. He knows his position and when he writes an articles about "Player X" or "Team X" people will just absorb his opinion even though he knows not everything is as extreme as he states it. He is the ultimate image destroyer.

He is not disliked around the league per se. He's just disliked by his peer sports reporters because he always beats them in breaking news.

He is probably also disliked by whomever he has written about. Like many have pointed out, Woj's opinion pieces are always some over the board negative take on someone he doesn't like. I am sure those people don't like him back.

It is almost certain that Woj wouldn't bite the hands that feed him. Why would he alienate his sources? It is probably not too difficult. All he has to do is secure a handful of key people around the league to keep his scoops coming. He just needs to keep those people happy with him and doesn't have to give a rat dropping what the rest of the league think about him.

Woj is the MJ of NBA reporting. His opinions are undoubtedly influenced by who plays ball and who doesn't. ESPN IS a cheerleading network who allowed trash like Chris Broussard to have a voice. Ask Jay Glazer if he appreciates their stance on source naming. They may have nabbed Schefter who is the best reporter for NFL news, but NFL Network's coverage routinely makes them look like clowns. With the NBA, TNT is always more on point than whatever idiocy Jalen Rose is regurgitating.

    Long live Woj.

This is an ESPN smear campaign if there ever was one.
