If all it took to get Wood was MLE I think Pistons wouldnt let him go. The only realistic target that makes sense to me is Ibaka or Baynes or some other 3 pt shooting center, we need a C so tucker can move to PF and House can be the SF. Thats the only way this doesnt become an L.

Is this possibly about getting Kevin Love + _____ for Westbrook/Tucker using that TPE...and Ibaka with the MLE? Gotta be more to it, but just a thought.
Keeping James and going for it..esp.with the injury to Klay.

    James

EG ..who could easily be gone too in this or another deal, but would fit here.

    _______ SF Hayward?

    KLove - PF or C

    Ibaka. - PF or C

Some derivative of all this? It needs more athleticism.

    I'm not saying I approve...just speculating.

I swear to cats, anybody at 16 would've helped this team. They literally got nobody.

It's because of the potential Uncle Joey / Mr Woodchuck memes

There are at least 3 ways to get Christian Wood:

    MLE
SnT with Detroit using the Ariza deal
    SnT with Detroit using Gordon

it is at least possible that part of the reason for the significant restrictions on Detroit’s first round pick is that they agreed either not to sign Wood or to facilitate a Wood signing for minimal compensation.

The Rockets don’t care about trying to win. That isn’t their purpose as a franchise at this point.

We've entered the Chris Cohen / Ted Stepian era... at some point in the future the NBA will create a fertita rule to protect other franchises from self destructing to the detriment of the game of basketball.

IF they use the MLE and trade exemption (which admittedly is a big if), it will undoubtedly help this team more than anyone we would’ve drafted.

Don’t forget there is no Summer League this year along with an abbreviated training and preseason. Think it’s really difficult to expect any rookie to come in and provide immediate help in a season that is slated to start in a month.

Lol it doesn’t matter who they pick up with the MLE none of those guys are as good as Roco. This team is somehow significantly worse than last year at the moment with only the MLE to upgrade lol. Some of you blindly put faith in Tilman and I have no clue why.

It's literally down to the fact that whoever could've been picked at 16 would've been required to play. They don't just need one more player to sign they have like 5 or 6 to go, all with that 12 million people think is getting spent on 1 player...

Only show up when Harden plays for NJ or whomever and cheer for him continually throughout the game
I am too. I will still remain a fan, but frankly I am in mourning. I remember being a Rockets fans during the interim between Hakeem and Yao. It was ok, but I for one always liked the Harden era even though we did not get to the finals. It was great to watch Harden be one of the greatest of all time.

They are in the east and they just went to playoffs a couple of years ago.

They don't have to be good over the 4 years and we could get the pick.

Don't like the salary dump but we can still get better value.

Disagree on being required to play the rookie, don't think we are anywhere near that point. Also don't understand why we'll necessarily need to sign 5-6 players. Outside of RoCo, we have only lost one player that played significant minutes last season (Jeff Green). But also think it's safe to say we'll get back some player(s) if Russ is moved as well.

They were just out of the lottery 2 years ago.

    They play in the East.

I was out and about when this trade happened. A friend texted me that we traded Ariza and the 16 pick for Detroit 2021 1st and 2021 2nd rounder.

I thought, wow! that's great! Assuming that it was a top 5 protected pick or something like that.

So you can imagine my disappointment when I got home and looked into it, and realized that this was just a Tilman money-saving move that will net us a 2nd rounder in 2028 or something like that.

Of course, it's probably my fault for not assuming the worst when it comes to Tilman.

Well, he doesn't have to pay the FRP now. I wouldn't be surprised if House gets moved later.
