Yeah, now the players want to sign their big long term guaranteed contract AND be able to go wherever they want any time they want.
it's plain and simple Harden is a b****. He acts like disloyal woman... one thing maddens him then he throws a tantrum and make a scene, abandons everyone and wants the new shiny toy with fresh start
Whats bad for the league is its biggest stars not being in the playoffs. What good is Dame on a bad team? Harden wanted to stay with the Sixers btw. He took a pay cut so they could be contenders and his ask in return was a long term deal. Dame is at the end of his career, he has given everything to the trailblazers and they have made dumb decision after dumb decision. Even fans in Portland want him to go win a chip. Ben Simmons was treated like **** by his coach and thrown under the bus by Embiid and the fans were burning his jersey and spitting at him. Ofcourse he needed to be out of there they wanted him gone right? atleast thats what the fans said. So how would him leaving be a bad thing. So yeah in a vacuum with no context I guess Austin could be right if you squint real hard.
Actually Harden wanted a long term deal, Morey reneged and thats why Harden wants out. This part of it ofcourse isnt talked about in the media because the media has to sensationalize everything to get clicks and views. The leave things out on purpose.
Not as simple, I think he is mad at Morey for not being too active on that front, basically froze him out a little during the first FA days or prior to it.
Regardless what I said makes what Austin said meaningless when you add context. Harden likes Philly and wanted to stay long term. ITS PHILLY THAT DOESNT WANT HIM LONG TERM. So he is looking for a place that does.
By this logic, they should just put all the superstars on 10 teams, preferably in big market locations, and let them play for the championship right at the beginning. Why even bother to have 30 teams where only a handful have a shot to win it all? In fact, if you want the superstars on good teams, why not let the best teams pick first at the draft? That would guarantee the best prospects to go to a good team and not waste years of their careers playing for crappy teams.
Free agency! Say it with me, F r e e A g e n c y! Yeah it sucks he’s a star on a bad team who is out of the playoffs. That’s a Dame problem, not a league problem. He chose to take the current contract he’s on now and sign it versus becoming a, you guessed it, free agent. There is an out for the player. There is a path for them having a choice to “choose” a different team. You don’t get to choose a different team while you are under contract. At that point, you get traded to the team that offers your current team the best deal. Yes, the league is broken when players whom are under contract can choose where they now want to play. It needs to be fixed. At minimum it looks like they are addressing the the super team problem. This is the next problem that still needs to be resolved.
Yes the out for the player is demanding a trade when the team starts acting crazy and isnt doing a good job. Also when they arent keeping up their end of the bargain. They should hire better executives then you wouldn't have to treat players like slaves. Regardless of what you or Austin Rivers (who is completely jealous by the way cuz his career is basically over and no one wants him) say. Players have the power and if they arent treated right they can demand to leave and you know what... I haven't seen one person who stopped watching because of it. Actually people are more interested in it. The NBA gets more mentions and goes viral whenever it happens. It literally gives the media something to talk about. Austin is literally getting paid to talk about it lol
What is the point of a contract if it’s not going to be honored? Players would be up in arms if teams were cutting players and not fulfilling the terms. Again, you don’t get to choose what destination you are going to be traded to while under contract. That’s a problem.
"Again, you don’t get to choose what destination you are going to be traded to while under contract." And yet they do and AGAIN it actually makes the NBA more popular not less. We are sitting here talking about it arent we? lol
We’ll see. If you look at recent successful teams, they were built organically. GS, TOR, MIL, DEN, MIA even PHX had their foundation. I disagree with how you spin this. Bad publicity is good publicity? They are increasing in popularity (the NBA). Let’s see how this fares over the next few years. They’ve taken steps to right the super team, 3 max players issue. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Your speaking of a self inflicted wound. The league propping up 5'10 chuckers that can't play defense is the problem, and now you want to give them flexibility too? Dame is fun, but there's a reason he's incapable of dragging his team to the playoffs.
