The way I understand it is the rockets have been talking to him through Stephen A basically saying they don't want him. Which in turn has made it pretty clear they're not going to overpay him. I'm looking forward to this drama to be over so we can see what our team will look like.
Report: Rockets ‘out of the running’ for James Harden; Clippers named as ‘dark horse’ suitor https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nb...ippers-named-as-dark-horse-suitor/ar-AA1daQYH Per Kelly Iko... Go Rockets!!! ....... ....... .......
actually, I think OP needs to retitle this thread as "Report: Harden doesn't want to play with Sengun"
Nah, it should be "Report: Harden can't be the Rockets' franchise player because they already have Sengun."
Its almost weird. Like you want to know you will be stuck in Philly rather than be paid a lot to be in Phliiy for a much shorter time.
Harden opting out of 35M to enter FA a year earlier because he has no confidence that his value next year will be as high as what it is now. But he probably overestimated his current value and end up making not that much more than what he is giving up. His last playoffs performance really hurt him. Normally, a competitive team would want to acquire a guy like him to get over the hump. Now teams are wary to give up a lot to have him only to disappear in crucial playoffs games. And rebuilding teams like the Rockets don't want to give him long term deal because they don't want a washed Harden clogging up their cap rooms when they are ready to compete in a couple of years. The only team that has compelling reasons to sign him is the Sixers. If they lose him for nothing, they will drop out of title contention, and Embiid might demand to be out. Even then, it looks like they are reluctant to give him a long term deal.
