Interesting thought. Maybe he signs a two year max with some kind of player option with Philly, then comes back for a limited-minutes farewell tour when we're (hopefully) already a playoff team? I'd be a lot more onboard with that than bringing him back now to run The Harden Show.
James Harden 'Torn' Over Impending Free Agency Decision, per Report https://apple.news/A7GBHth9KSXuIbvQQGncFwg One thing I don’t want to do is wait around for Harden to make a decision.
It was obvious that the Suns wanted to trade CP3 but there was no taker because of his huge contract. The Rockets will be in similar situation two years from now if they give Harden a 4-year max.
That's a slice of it, age is a major slice, injury prone is another slice, and nobody is giving up quality young pieces to try and match that 30$ mill or so rental deal as you mentioned In Two years Harden will be like 35, so in 4 years he would be 37 which would still be younger than present Paul and you could cut bait or make it a 4th year team option if you that worried Paul is on his last leg being from the 2005 class, father time is at third base and about to tag up and score on a sac. fly
Paul also made the move to turn vegan for his career. I did not see any moves on Harden's side. While he is not as fat as he was in his last days as a Houstonian, he is just not in his best shape.
Harden needs to get back into I think it was bubble playoff shape or one of those seasons where he looked fit, in that Mike Dantoni era Maybe he should become a fruitarian and also eat nothing but fish, but he definitely needs to put his sweet habits to the side for duration of his next contract It only seems like CP3 went vegan for that one OKC season, then went back to old habits, from the outside looking in that is
https://www.gq.com/story/real-life-diet-chris-paul I think it started somewhere at the end of his Houston days and then went on Young Paul was nasty and a better scorer but still did not win.
Paul looked lean with OKC, and then looked like the heavy stocky version with Houston when he got to Suns, based on eye test he seemed to sneak that burger/fry habit back in, but when you secure the bag you can do pretty much whatever, similar to how More pampered Harden with Rockets . which led to binge partying/eating, allegedly Young Paul was very nasty and underrated athlete/scorer who could get up and sneak dunk on you like K Johnson back in his heyday
Paul is 4 years his senior and likely near retirement. His passion is driving him. Unlike some of the lotto picks it has been a fruitful career with individual titles sans MVP and Larry O'Brien.
Expecting lucid and articulate eloquence from Twitter might be a losing proposition, but after your explanation I got a good chuckle and understand your thought better. I like smart guys - nice!
But that's just it! With the character limit on Twitter, you should be EB White. Instead, Shams is Santa Clause
ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne says ‘keep your eye’ on James Harden to Phoenix “The Phoenix Suns don’t waive Chris Paul] unless they feel pretty good about somebody else. And I want you to keep your eye on James Harden. I don’t want to report anything, but that was in the wind for the past month or so.”
It would have to be a sign and trade or Harden playing for MLE money. The Ayton contract really screwed up their flexibility. Not sure anyone will trade for Ayton’s contract and Phoenix doesn’t have any draft capital to sweeten the deal.
Doesn’t make sense for anyone. For years there has been a single NBA truth. No one wants to play with James Harden. Every single stop he has destroyed the team and burned bridges with every star and role player and it’s been on him 100% every single time. How he keeps finding his way on to new teams with other stars remains the biggest mystery of recent NBA history. Suns with Durant and Booker? Impossible. Durant won’t be fooled a 3rd time. Rumor has it Harden was and may still be fueling Kyries obsession with being difficult/different. Booker would be flat earthing in no time.
Folks - i fear we might find that the only thing worse than the ignominy having to overpay Harden to come back and get the Rockets off the absolute bottom of the league. - is the ignominy of being rejected by Harden and having to run it back with the current squad plus whatever 19 yo project players arrive via the draft. If Harden is off the table, the potential future problem of Harden's age 37 season is immediately replaced by the present day problem of Daishen Nix age 21 season.
Gotta pray it’s not here. As evidenced by Tyrese Maxeys new alcohol and strip club problem we have to keep Harden away from our youngsters at all costs.
