I don't think it really was all that unlikely. If the lottery went our way then we 100% get Wemby and the idea was that would help convince Harden to come play here. The lottery didn't go our way though.
Whitmore #4 Trade #20 + Garuba for Capela S&T Porter, Tate for Harden Sign CP3... Paul / Rivers / Washington Green / Martin / Christopher Harden / Whitmore Smith Jr / Eason / UncJeff Capela / Sengun Rivers & Jeff Green on vets mins, MDA as lead AC, lets fckin get it!!!!
Sign Harden for 3 years at 42 million and the 3rd year if he is cut he would only receive half, cut Tate and KPJ, 20 million for Brook Lopez and 17 million to Grant William
Just going to throw this out there, regarding the "Harden is torn between Philly and Houston" story... Harden made a nearly unprecedented move last summer by agreeing to take a giant pay cut so Morey could sign better players to fill out the roster. I seem to recall Duncan doing that once, but apart from that, I don't remember another instance of a superstar leaving money on the table to help his team. In MY opinion there is no way that agreement didn't contain an under-the-table handshake that DM would take care of Harden this summer. Morey not holding up his end of the deal (and Harden walking to Houston, Phoenix, or anywhere else) seems like a very remote chance at best. So I wouldn't count on seeing Harden in a Rockets uni until he's at the tail end of his career and wants to go out on a winning note in a deep bench role like Gary Payton with the Heat or T-Mac with the Spurs.
I'm not mad about using "torn" - I'm requesting he not use tortured sentence clauses like "who sources say is believed to be seriously torn" That's just a ****in crime against Strunk & White. Like I'm not an 83 year old retired copy writer for the Baltimore Sun Times - but every time i read one of Shams passive voice split infinitive cluster****s i want to dig up Ernest Hemingway and have him drunk drive Chams into the Everglades.
Possibly. But then, this "Torn Saga" shouldn't be happening if that is the case. If they already have an agreement, what's this leveraging for?
Philly fans? Many are over Harden... just like they were "over" Jimmy Butler. Is management (i.e. Morey) using this as a way to say we are lucky we got to keep Harden because the Rockets were coming for him hard? Who knows....
That's not what I meant. Didn't imply he was trash? I meant more so that the city really loved this dude when he was here and he made an ugly exit to ring chase and doesn't seem like he ever really wanted to leave.
I mentioned something similar on this thread awhile back - very sarcastically. Yours is better tho lol - I was trading away the 4th for CP - although CP hadn’t been waived yet. I will add tho, I only wanna go this route if Ryno and EGo are brought back.
