Just my opinion...I will be shocked if a team actually gives up something of value for Gordon. Even if you think he's a good player, which I'd argue he hasn't been since the 2018 season, he's a 32 year old with a ton of injury miles (I actually do a double take every time I see his age, because it feels like he's actually 35). He has shot 31% and 32% from three over the last 2 seasons. PLUS he will be taking up around $20 million off a team's salary cap for the next two seasons after this one.

I'd be satisfied if we can get a 2021 or 2022 expiring contract just to simply knock a year or two out of paying him to open up some cap space in the unlikely situation someone becomes available. If we get more than that I will consider it a swindle. I would rather keep him than have to bundle even a late first round pick to send him to another team.

Let's not get carried away. :) I appreciate him and like him, and will always remember that sixth man of the year season, but no way I'm putting him at the same level of championship heroes Horry/Ellie/Cassell/Maxwell

The difference is a contending team like the Lakers for example are already over the cap. Their owners aren't cheap and are willing to pay LTS. It really doesn't matter what his salary is next year. Since it's only 16 this year it's easier to trade for him without giving up too many contracts to match.

Boston could outright just absorb him into their trade exception.

No, not at all. I'm saying EG wasn't much in trade discussion before yesterday.

Now there is hope. :) Maybe we can get a 1RP.

All the above is fine if we're talking about a relatively healthy Gordon from 3 season ago. But I'm coupling the contract situation with his terrible play as of late plus the recurrence of nagging injuries.

He's better than Oladipo and teams want to trade for him and pay him way more than Gordon next year... crazy...

If Oladipo is worth anything, Ego should net us something better tbh. Yes he's old but he's a better player.

I'd be fine with just getting whatever for Ego. We need to go full rebuild and i don't want him to come off the bench on a young team.

On the court I agree with all of this. However I do think gordon would be a good locker room guy and mentor to have around.

Between EG and Victor, I'm assuming a value of 3 #1's and a couple of #2's.

EGo was absolutely amazing during our battles with the Warriors. He will be missed and will get a standing O when he returns to Toyota Center. But let's be real, our organization is on a different timeline and splitting up is in the interest of both parties.

We will get him to a contender, where he has the chance to compete for something meaningful, and if we can get a real asset for doing so, even better. A TPE + a 2nd or salary filler + a 1st would be a pretty solid return imo

I don't think so. He complains non stop about everything, i can't imagine him being a good influence, character wise.

His effort on the court is good tho, thats where i see mentoring value - but i dont want anyone on the team ever complaining that much anymore.

Ah got it. Yeah I'll be happy if we can get ANY value back. I just don't think we should attach any asset just to get rid of his contract.

I think teams will want Evan Fournier is traded before Gordon just because of the contract. Gordon is the better player no doubt but I don’t see how a team can make that investment in Gordon

Good. He's a nice guy, but I won't miss him in a Rockets uniform.

I think Gordon to the Knicks makes a ton of sense. Ntilikina, Knox and a 1st is a fair deal.

I will appreciate the games Gordon was splashing, the clutch shots, the 6th man and 3 point contest Gordon. He just never seemed to enjoy playing here and I don't know why.

Always thought Gordon would help a lot of teams making the push. We also need to open up minutes for KPJ so Dipo and Gordon going would give us a lot of minutes and shots open.

Gordon's time here was clearly at its best in the first few seasons both health and actually play wise. primarily sticking to the 6th man. It's regressed more to the mean being so injury prone and gone downhill since then and for whatever reasons his shot took a significant dip. The rockets got as much as they could those first few years coming from a injury riddled career prior. Whether he's gone by this trade deadline or not, the rockets have already seen the best of EG by far and the time for him to go elsewhere is here
