[WOJ] Cleveland in talks to deal Shumpert to Houston

Rockets will likely give CLE a 2nd round pick and/or some of the non-guaranteed contracts Morey got.

This is basically an extension of the CP3 trade

Of course we have to move Ryno we had to do that either way. Why would it be weird for us to add two defensive wings? Again, maybe there are more moves to this. I can't think of a time that Morey ever did what anyone expected. Not sure why he would start now.

I have a feeling Shumpert will get moved in another deal...just thinking there's no Morey made this move without a future move in mind.

 

At least get two high 2nd picks along with Shumpert, Morey.

I just don't think Morey is that stupid to go after Shumpert w/o having some bigger plan in place. Either this move helps our salary cap situation or is a bait to bring in Melo.

 

Windhorst says it's for a draft pick and part of the TPE. Not Anderson or anyone else on the roster. (But not finalized so who knows) Also, if this is the case, that means no Iggy, is my guess.

 

Waste of cap space. Unless they send a pick our way, this would be a horrible trade.

I'm trying to think how this would make sense, because I just can't imagine the Rockets are dealing for Shumpert unless Morey had some other pieces in place first. Maybe he found a taker for Ryno's contract, uses that cap space to sign Iggy, then can use the rest of the MLE on Nene and then the TPE on Shumpert? That would make sense. Just dealing away the TPE with no deal in place for Iggy or Nene, and Shumpert being the primary offseason signing would be...depressing.

Shumpert and Iguodala are wings capable of defending guys like KD and Klay and giving Ariza a breather. Whatever they add offensively is a bonus.
