Is James Harden not elite? Steph Curry? Because Melo's defense isn't worse than theirs. Ppl just have selective criticism of certain players they don't like or can't relate too. Basketball wise, Melo is elite

You have to hope with Darryl being so quiet he's working on this. I think the big thing here is you can go to Anthony down the stretch. You can't with Anderson.

Question becomes now, how does he pull it off? Cleveland has the same issue we do. Love plays KP's spot. On our side, having no GM in Cleveland has to be a plus! Gives us a leg up. How does it impact NY tho?

Again, you are making a different point. Being a 2nd option on a super team or by necessity when traded somewhere with a dominant offensive player is not the same as saying a guy NEEDS to be a second or third option because he's not good enough. Why is this hard to get? Melo is an all offense guy that has lost his elite efficiency as he has aged.

He fits anywhere but we don't have any minutes for him.

Harden and Curry both have other redeeming qualities thake make up for their defensive deficiencies. Melo has none, and even in the scoring department he's not very efficient. Is Melo an elite player? He's an elite offensive player, but that's about it.

    a) injuries
    b) future flexibility via trade
    c) defense and 3's
    d) he can run backup point guard
    e) there are more minutes available than you think

Even if GS wasn't one of the greatest teams of all time, Curry's still a 2nd option with KD there. Translation, Melo is elite no matter how you put it

Wade was elite as second option to Lebron. Pippen was elite as option 2. Warriors have more than 1 elite player. Just cause you're not THE MAN doesn't mean you're not elite. It usually means your team is just really good.

Melo would be an elite 3rd especially 4th option. He still has the ability to dominate and close out games when needed and he'll look elite at times. Can you lean on him to lead a team night in and night out as a number 1 option? No. As a number 2 option? Probably not. But as a 3rd option he'd be deadly.

Ok. He's elite. I mean he's 33, has seen his numbers decline, isn't nearly as efficient as he used to be, doesn't play defense and hasn't been able to lead a team to the playoffs in the east in like 5 years, but he's elite.

Are there any other elite players that miss the playoffs in the east?

Not only that, but harden has proven he can get the rockets to the playoffs without a star next to him in the west. Melo can't get to the playoffs in the east

Are you serious? Melos defense is ass.

    All around ass.

He's an elite scorer, but an ass defender. More ass than either Harden or Curry (and they don't even play the same position).

It's ass and on top of being ass, he's lazy on the defensive end.

So again, that is exactly what Harden is lol. Except Harden is a MVP candidate who plays for our Rockets, a CLEARLY better team. Your criticism is selective because you favor Harden. Your dislike for Melo extends past basketball. Just admit you don't like the guy

Ok you are saying exactly what I am saying and you don't see that. Wade became a second option because a better player came. You are saying though that you can't lean on melo to be your best player if you want to be a good team. By definition that means he isn't among the elite
