a 5 year 201 is the super max. we cant offer him a super max. We can give him the 5th year, but only a 5 for about 170 I believe

One of the Super Max criteria:
He has to be on the team that drafted him or has to have been traded on his rookie deal to another team.

Love is an elite defensive rebounder, Anderson is one of the worst defensive rebounding big men in the league. For that reason alone, Love is way, way more valuable on court then Anderson.

Plus, Love is very good finisher in the paint, I cringe every time Anderson try's to take the ball inside.

Incorrect. CP3 is a 10 year vet, so he already qualifies for 35% of the cap.

Maybe you should look up what 35 percent of a 99 million cap is

    .35*99,000,000 = 34.65 million Times 5 year bird rights is 173 million

and no ....only certain players are eligible for the super max. Chris paul is not. He can get the 5th year with bird rights, but not the super max 5 year 201

Hell at this point, move anderson, 2 firsts and NG'ed for Melo. I doubt melo would want to play the 4 spot so maybe a sign and trade for ilyasova or james johnson or jamychal green(or maybe both with atl getting ariza and hoping green or Johnson signs for the BAE...) at the 4 spot for Ariza (they can hit the 3, better defender and rebounder than anderson, plus melo makes up for all the 3s anderson would make and ilyasova would make up for ariza)...but if we have to add capela which wouldn't make sense because knicks would have 4 centers, i woukd absolutely do it, i love capela, he developed quick but you can replace him with an ezeli, bogut and dedmon type of player and won't miss a beat... would prefer dedmon because he's more athletic. (Pipe dream would be signing tyson chandler after a buyout) All we would have left is to sign a backup pg and fill out the end of the bench... would've loved to get tim frazier but maybe shelvin mack or ty lawson (pipe dream would be collison or d will)

    Cp3/???
    Harden/Gordon
    Melo/Tucker
    Green-Johnson/Ilyasova
    ???/Nene

Maybe you should look up the raises players are eligible for in their contracts, and focus on the numbers in year 4 and 5 for CP3.

Well you said 35 percent of the cap. Meaning he will sign next season and the cap currently is at 99 meaning 34-35 annually which isnt 200 in 5 years. I dont see how he magically gets more each year. His raises by year are over 27 million over the contract?

but nvm. I looked into it. This is the new cba loophole for the really old star players to get a massive payday. Chris Paul and Lebron got this loophole for themselves lol. Very few will qualify/get it. Its not a supermax but its basically the same thing money wise for 10 year star vets.

The Knicks don't have much leverage here IMO.

What are you talking about?? Listen to the magnificent leverage discussions going on on Knicks forum:

Their strategy is to get the Rockets and Cavs into a bidding war (WITH WHAT :D:D:D) which would then send Ainge into a jealous rage and cause him to trade some excellent young assets to them. BRILLIANT!!

Three team deal: HOU - NYK - UTH
Houston: Melo (NYK) + C/F Kyle O'Quinn (NYK)
Htown gets 3rd star + solid front court rotational player

New York: F Derrick Favors (UTH) + F Joe Johnson (UTH) + F/C Boris Diaw (UTH) + PG Dante Exum (UTH) + PF Ryan Kelly (HOU) + PG Isaiah Taylor (HOU)+ G Tim Quarterman (HOU) + F Shawn Long (HOU) + 2020 1st (HOU - lottery protected) + 2018 2nd (UTH) + $3M cash (Rox)
Knicks shed a ton of salary and pick up some draft picks to get back to relevance via 2018 free agency.

Utah: F Ryan Anderson (HOU) + G/F Courtney Lee (NYK) + F Lance Thomas (NYK)
Jazz need to surround Rubio & Gobert with shooters. Ryno provides spacing ability to pair with Hayward. Lee is a better 2guard than anyone on Jazz's current roster and brings experience. Thomas is a depth shooter.

    Make it happen!

Seems like a terrible deal for Utah, think they can get much more in return in seperate deals for Favors, Joe, Diaw, Exum and a pick.

you have no clue what you're talking about

the Rockets can give him 5 years and over 200 million next summer...the super max is the same thing as taking 35% of the cap as a vet with over 10 years of experience which is exactly what CP3 is, do some research man...
