It was up to Carmelo to be the most pliable IMO. Carmelo is supposed to be the guy to come in and just be a guy to help win. This is coming from a guy who thought the Rockets should have given punk-ass Dwight more touches so he would shut up and play more defense. Maybe if the Rockets were 9-1 MDA would have given this experiment more time. Maybe if Melo was fine giving Gary all his minutes in the interim for MDA to work it out it would have been different.
Based on what we've seen and his career trajectory the past few years this was the right decision. He can't play defense at all anymore and his offense just isn't efficient enough to "feature". Even in a small role, what's the point of playing him? Let him play somewhere else where he'll be happy.

So now that Melo is gone, will this team improve or will it be more of the same? Like D’Antoni said, it doesn’t matter now. We came into the season talking about “Run it back” and we are currently under .500 and out of the playoff picture. Time to get our heads out of our asses.
