If the Lakers do not trade for Anthony Davis, they likely never get him. LeBron James is getting old, there is no way that the Lakers just sit on their cap space all of next year in an effort to sign Davis in 2020.
Just guessing but probably the usual suspects: Both LA teams Both NY teams Golden State -------------------- Long(er) shots: Maybe Miami, Philadelphia, San Antonio -------------------- Long(est) shots: Dallas, Denver, Oklahoma City, Portland
THIS. And if I am the Pelicans, I don't trade him now. There is a chance Tatum is on the table and he would be the best player available for them.
Apologize, for no link but i did read Pelicans had on interest in trade to LA. Not sure if this is because of what LA is offering or that fact they just don't want him going to LA. As @Nook said if LA wants him they need to trade. That would likely mean blowing up their current roster and at minimum including 2 unprotected first rounders but more like the max 4 first rounders. That likely means Kuzma, ingram, Zubac, and picks to even be in the running. Even if LA makes that offer there are a few other teams that can best that offer.
Would you guys trade somehting like four unprotected 1st rounders, multiple 2nd rounders, Hartenstein, House, Clark and Gordon for Davis and maybe another player between Moore (best case) Miller, Clark? That's like everything we can trade aside for Capela. I don't know if a similar package would be enough but, but consider this lineup: Capela/Faried/(DJ) Davis/Ennis PJ/Green Harden/Moore Paul/Rivers I know on paper it doesn't look like a great package, but 4 unprotected 1st rounders (especially from an old team which could also still lose Davis in 18 months) have a lot of value, adding Gordon/another pick and a few young/cheap/interesting players should make it at least interesting. As for us, while moving future unprotected 1st rounders is a very risky decision (hi Nets), but if we're willing to up our risk profile...
I heard in podcasts that originally the Lakers preferred not to trade for him now, but after they signed a star in FA because thats the only way to have 3 max contracts. Too bad their assets have depreciated so much in value that practically is impossible. Its either now or never.
I cant believe that Davis would rather be in the -30C ice cold Milwaukee than in Boston. What next? He threatens to go play with the Shanghai Sharks if the Celtics trade for him?
I think the Lakers core next year will be Lebron, Kawhi, Cousins. It's going to be very interesting because all 3 have an ego of their own.
Woj throwing crumbs to milk the AD saga while Shams just go ahead and reveals the whole destination list immediately.
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...re-handful-teams-anthony-davis-sign-long-term The New Orleans Pelicans have been made aware of an extended list of teams beyond the Lakers and Knicks that All-Star center Anthony Davis would stay long-term upon a trade, league sources told ESPN. One source with knowledge of the list called it a "handful" of teams. The list doesn't include the Boston Celtics, league sources said. The Celtics are unable to trade for Davis until July 1 as long as Kyrie Irving is on the team's roster. The Milwaukee Bucks are one of the teams on Davis' new extended list, league sources tell ESPN. Milwaukee hasn't inquired about a Davis trade, sources say, and its roster composition does make the pathway to a trade extremely difficult. This turn of events could be an opening to help spur the Pelicans to find a deal for Davis prior to Thursday's trade deadline, league sources said. The Knicks don't have the assets to make a trade for Davis now, and the Lakers and Pelicans have yet to gain traction in talks. This appears to be an effort on the part of Davis and his agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, to facilitate a deal prior to Thursday's 3 p.m. ET deadline, and spare a prolonged stay into the offseason for Davis with the franchise. Davis, who requested a trade a week ago, can't become a free agent until July of 2020. He informed the Pelicans that he wouldn't sign a five-year, $239M super max contract.
There's probably some behind-the-scenes stuff going on. Maybe a Celtic (Kyrie, maybe) is talking to Davis, saying that something is bad within the org. Then again, it's a chance to play with Giannis over a team that might not Kyrie anymore.
Yes absolutely. The Boston media had been previously been advertising that AD and Kyrie are friends who talk through the season. AD's unwillingness to go to Boston is clear proof that Kyrie has told him that he is leaving.
