    How about lying under oath?

By the way....I agree that Bush has taken the typical spin and rev'd it to 78rpm.

but let's not trivialize Bill's gaff.

Saying that Bill's lie even comes close in magnitude or negative impact to the country than Bush's mountain of lies is lunacy.

Bill told a lie about sex. He purjured himself.

Bush told repeated lies to get Americans to support a preemptive war.

Bush told lies about whether Americans torture people.

Bush told lies about whether it is necessary to get a court order for wiretaps.

Bush lied about not having been warned about levee breaches before Katrina.

    And on and on...

Bill's lie doesn't even remotely approach the level of destruction that Bush's lies have heaped on this country.

    But he lied UNDER OATH.

    That's a big no-no.

I personally feel the fact that he lied over a trivial matter -- one that no-one could say was remotely related to national security/ or some perverted sense of public good, makes it worse.

The punishment was just, IMO. Impeachment -- but NOT removal from office. Let's not overstate the punishment either.

I wish we could get past this, really. The whole -- let's impeach like they did to Clinton...Bush's lies are worse masks the real discussion over some of the truly destructive things Curious George is doing.

Sorry for the rant. It's a pet peave of mine when Clinton's impeachment is mischaracterized.

I should walk this off ;)

    Thanks Deckard.

Again, nobody is debating that Clinton lied. But as a president the public ultimately cares about things that affect national security or their pocketbook.

So yes, he lied ...under oath. I'll elevate the charges from involuntary lying to voluntary lying. ;)

    Bush ...1st degree lying.

Clinton's lie did not personally affect me in ANY way other than some esoteric butterfly effect sort of way or being forced to hear the latest grime on the evening news.

Bush's lies have had a direct affect on military families, war protesters (invasion of privacy), people of middle eastern decent (invasion of privacy), all taxpayers (deficit), people in New Orleans, etc etc etc.

    Clinton lied.

    Bush lied BIGGER and MORE.
