It's funny to read basso, T_J, and bigtexxx post in this BBS.

They remind me of rats that are too stupid to jump off a sinking ship.

So approval ratings are the best indicator of actual performance, eh? I beg to differ...

So now you guys resort to putting words in my mouth? It's sad to see just how little you guys can now argue the merits. Nowhere in my post did I refer to a "best indicator" of anything. Unless, of course, you made up that hypothetical and were "begging to differ" with yourself, I guess.

I referred to it as showing a party being driven off a cliff. Since a party is built on the support of your people, then not having the support of your people is an indicator of driving a party off of a cliff.

How is a decline in presidential approval ratings tantamount to a distrust in a party as a whole?

    But they are still infuriating.

You know, since the r****d triplets don't ever add anything relevant or respond to adverse posts, why don't ya'll quit wasting your time with responses? I mean, they're on my ignore list for a reason - although it doesn't do too much good since they're quoted so often....

Basso supports every Republican agenda except gay rights. Pretty transparent.

The Democrats have not been this empowered since Bush took over the White House, we are witnessing an amazing and rapid shift of power.

The President is considered the head of a party. Historically, it has always been the case that the President's ratings reflect on the party as a whole. But if you insist on arguing that point, here:

Washington - Support for the majority Republican party in the United States is sagging as President George W. Bush's popularity continues to slide, according to a poll released on Wednesday.

A plurality of Americans, 48%, said they would prefer the Democrats to control Congress compared to 39% who want the Republicans in power, said the poll commissioned by United States television channel NBC and the Wall Street Journal.

The gap between the two parties was the largest recorded since the NBC/Journal poll started asking the question 11 years ago.

How sad is the state of the Democratic party when the happiest they've felt in 5 years is the result of a retread political debate about WMD in Iraq? Nothing else worked, so let's re-debate an old issue that we've already lost! Yeah! Everyone jump for joy! SECRET SESSION!!!!! Boooooya Bill Frist!!!1!!111

It's a joke really. All of it is the direct result of having no party leadership, no direction, no spine, and most of all, no traction with the voters. I mean, heck, they couldn't even defeat the man responsible for the UNJUST AND ILLEGAL war! Who can they beat in an election? Frustration has sat in. They couldn't get their man Rove indicted. They couldn't get a moderate in the Supreme Court (which by the way, will produce tens of years of conservative judgments!!!!). No one listens to them on the economy (which is booming). No one listens to them on foreign policy. No one listens to them on any issue at all. Can you say irrelevant?

To be fair, I think there's a significant difference between the twins and basso. The twins are like the children at the table that just scream and shout hoping someone will listen. The Rice education made them into talking parrots without any critical thinking ability, it seems. Finding anything of substance from them is somewhere between unlikely and impossible.

Basso, on the other hand, is just a legitimate conservative poster, in my opinion. He actually engages in real debates on real issues. I disagree with him for the most part, but you can have a real discussion with him. I see him sort of like treeman from the yesteryears... The BBS could use more of him, and I think if he wasn't so outnumbered and having to defend on so many fronts, there could be a lot better debates on this board.

A Rice education does that? I must have missed that class.

I'm sure not everyone is affected - in fact, it may only be them. But since they like to bring up their education so often, then I think it's only fair to judge the results based on it.
