A monkey at the zoo couldnt muck up this decision......

Lotto for years to come in DC that will make the rest of you hair completely fall out.

    or

Ride Yao Ming and Franchise to a ring on your finger in a few years and be seen as one of the greatest coaches in the NBA.

    Thats a toughie!!!

Van Gundy would never do it. He hates losing too much to go to Washington. It's the New York nightmare all over again. Two SG's who don't want to share the ball, none of which can play PG, a 6'9 C, and underachieving or old F's. Oh yeah, and a crappy draft pick to show for their troubles.

Best they can do is what they have. No one wants what they have, and they will finish as the 8th seed with no hope, or just outside the playoffs.

Jeff Van Gundy would rather go back to TNT than coach the Wizards.

Money is money. People don't take pay cuts for nothing guaranteed in return. Hopefully JVG sees a big plus in coming to Houston: more success and more money in the future.

How about this: Houston in the WEST will have a better record than the Wizards will have in the East, just like last season.

How about this: The mystical Micheal Jordan and control freak Doug Collins couldn't get this team to the playoffs for 2 consecutive seasons.

How about this: The Wizards best bet at improving is Kwame Brown. Ours is Yao Ming.

How about this: Jerry Stackhouse can opt out of his contract. No one in our roster can.

How about this: We're seriously looking to win a championship again. Washington is just trying to get out of the gutter.

How about this: All the money in the world won't make Jahidi White or Kwame Brown 7'5.

Well, I think it's merely a rumor because of the following quote from the Washington Post:

Wizards officials have maintained the team does not plan to hire a coach until naming a president of basketball operations. The Wizards have interviewed former Maryland star Len Elmore for that job and are believed to have spoken to others.

Washington is a waste land, Kwame Brown isnt due for a while and the talent seems to be waning. Also, their draft pick won't guarantee them anybody good (atleast make an immediate impact).

    JVG best come to Houston.

even coach with 2 rings could be fired and end up nothing, but if you own 2 percent of share, u still have something :)

Boy! The Wizards owner must surely be feeling the heat after his Jordan fiasco! He lets LB force his hand in dismissing Doug Collins and so he's attempting to hijack the Houston coaching search in an effort to counteract all the bad PR he's created for himself.

now the wiz owner is too deep in the hole he dug that he's willing to give everything. even 2% ownership of the team. daym, he really messed up on firing jordan and doug collins.. but i wonder what cna you do with that 2%?? hmmm:confused:

2 percent isn't anything. Unless you have 3 owners in which the majority owner owns 49 percent.

I don't like the idea of Wizards making a move for Gundy, shouldn't they go for a high school coach to match their team?

Washington is getting me sick, they don't know what to do with the team, they fired jordan, drafted brown and now they racing for coachng jobs. Stupids, they should first have the players instead of offering ownership. Rockets better getting this week, the sooner the better.

Hypothetically, if we were to lose out on both Van Gundy and Dunleavy who would we bring in? Would we just "pursuade" Rudy to come back and coach for another year, seeing as how he's under contract and all or would we give the job to Calvin Murphy or John Lucas on an "interim" basis?

Calvin Murphy would be a good choice if we lose out in the JVG and MD sweepstakes. Heck, he may be a better choice than either one if he gets the right assistants.

How can we lose Dunleavy? Dunleavy is practically begging to come here. He will not take the Atlanta job until we tell him to go away, which I fear will not happen.

and power. That's all it's about people. It seems to me that Rockets management hasn't fully grasped how cut throat their business really is.

This is just so typical of a Houston sports run organization. NOTHING goes smoothly (except for the Texans).

This is like watching Hunsicker and McLane negotiate with Woody Williams or Clemens a few years back. Everthing always seems to go wrong.

IF Les WANTED Brown, why did he interview him? Just call him up and say "Here's $5-$6 Mill...take it or leave it..you have two days to think it over!" Maybe we could have grabbed him BEFORE the Pistons fired Rick!!!

Same goes with JVG....but they wait a full week to make him an offer and then the Wiz jump in and are basically going to grab him.

JVG is a yankee...loves the NE and I have a feeling isn't to fond of Houston and the south. I would bet he's going to take the Wiz job. IF he wanted the Houston job...why go home and sit on it?? When you want things in life and you take them when given the opportunity.

Dunleavy will probably be taken soon and that will leave Les to hire someone he DIDN'T want to hire in the first place.

I would EXPECT a decision from JVG this weekend and also call Rick Carlise for an interview this weekend as well...before it's too late.

Basically, this tactic increases your negotiating power by not making yourself appear desperate.

Even for you or I, most people should never give an answer too quickly as that reduces the amount of an offer. I personally am a little too nervous to try this method but that's why I am where I am and JVG is commanding millions to be coach.
