@TheVertical: .@WojVerticalNBA: Bradley Beal, Wizards nearing five-year, $128 million maximum deal Live: https://t.co/92ODzkg0ai
yeah i don't get it. or i guess i do get it, but i still don't get it. every time a young shooting guard can create his own shot and scores more than 15 points per game, people start putting him in the hall of fame. for some reason the fact that he's not super efficient, not rebounding or assisting at a high level, not defending at a high level, doesn't have great PER/WS stats, doesn't have a good real plus-minus and can't stay healthy just never matters when someone can score. bradley beal taking up 25% of your cap is not what titles are made of, especially if john wall is going to be taking up a huge chunk as well by the time you are hoping to contend.
I don't get the hate. Only 23, elite 3PT shooter, capable defender, rebounds and passes a little, stepped up big and went OFF in the playoffs last year. His career average is 18/4/4 and a steal on 42/40/78 % shooting. If you ask me, he's worth every penny of the money he got. The only problem is his health. That being said, If I was Wizards GM, I would have just let him go out and sign his 4/94 million dollar deal and matched that because of his injury concerns. They could have even just offered a 5 year deal of 5/120 but whatever it's just an extra 8 mill stretched over 5 years.
Eh, he's a good contributing player when he's healthy. Durant wasn't considering the Wizards as a destination so outside of Beal, Wall and Gortat they don't have a lot of other major players on that team. The Wizards needed to keep him even if it meant overpaying for him. This does remind me of when the Wizards had Arenas, Butler and Jamison. That was a team that was consistently in the mid rankings for the playoffs. Didn't really ever make it too far though if I recall correctly. Now the Wizards need another 3rd player... maybe Dwight Howard and finding a way to ship out Gortat?
Interesting. Never thought they'd have issues but it's good that they're aware and working on the issue.
