I thought Isaiah Thomas was IT’s son for the longest time. It’s not that crazy. KPJ even has a JR suffix, the other thing isn’t plausible: him losing his mind and saying horrible on air on purpose.. lol.
I really hope LeBron starts to get some sort of "sit yo ass down" check for once. He's so ready to fight the good fight that he himself ends up adding fuel to the fire that never should have been. Almost... Trump-like.... they're reactions are just so immediate and extreme far too often.
The thought crossed my mind that his dad was former NBA player Kevin Porter. The announcer should acknowledge the mistake, which was sloppy on his part — though it’s an easy mistake to make. Announcers frequently get information wrong about players.
Cannot believe I didn't hear about this until today. What an awful mistake. I believe this guy when he says he thought KPJ was somebody's son, but man that was really bad. If this guy made such a deep dive into Wizards lore to evoke Wizards Kevin Porter, why wouldn't he know if he had a son who played on the Rockets?
Yeah. As foolish as his mistake was, it’s similarly foolish to not recognize how bizarre and unlikely it would be for a professional announcer to make that comment on air.
he did. I believe him to be sincere but the damage is done. he will be apologizing for this until the end of time because nobody will see his apology
this Kevin Porter…Kevin Porter Jr…both black and were in the NBA, so must be father and son c’mon man, do 2 seconds of research if you’re gonna bring up a player’s father
It’s not like Kevin Porter was a nobody. He had a 29 assist game — which I think was a record at the time. I know the name because I used to be a big nerd for stuff like that, but he was probably a well known player for anyone who was around the game at the time.
But who’s doing the damage — him or the people insisting and trying to convince others that he meant something different?
I know it's not like the Rockets have another guy on their team that's the son of an NBA player whose name is Ke__n Junior.
not sure how that’s supposed to be relevant to my post…so just because KJ’s dad is an NBA player, it’s fair to just assume that every player who’s a Jr is the son of an NBA player
It frustrates me beyond words that KPJ hits a game winning shot and he's in the news the next day for this nonsense.
I doubt it lol, nobody sane would say that, at least if he still wants a career. Thats like saying something like "Stephen Silas, the man who like Osama, drew up the plan to successfully bomb the opponent."
He is saying it's easy to make that mistake given they have the same name. That's why its called a mistake, the announcer should have done more research but he didnt. People make mistakes all the time like go to Burger King and order a happy meal. Kevin Porter is apparently a wizards player thats why he made that false assumption.
and I’m saying the announcer was dumb and should bother to do even 2 seconds of research next time so he doesn’t say something so stupid What’s next? When Jaylen Brown is 70, someone enters the league named Jaylen Brown Jr, and we just automatically assume that’s his son?
No but it's easy to make mistakes particularly when you're an old goof and there is a Ke__n Junior who is the son of an nba player 2 feet away from you on the same team that you've been yammering about for the last hour Way easier than believing the idiotic theory (LeBron's theory) that he did a bunch of research on Bryan Kevin Porter Sr. rap sheet in order to land the perfect burn. Nobody gives a **** about the Rockets. The Wizards have their own trash team to worry about.
That announcer should have taken 30 seconds to do a google search on KPJ before assuming he was a former player’s son. Lazy and unprofessional on his part.
