It's just amazing how the Wizards never could put a strong, fast-running athletic big man around Wall/Beal. Someone like a Capela or a Montrezl should have been their mid-first-round draft targets every single year after the Wall/Beal drafts until they hit on a couple. Instead of being a little patient and just trying to build a young, super athletic team around their young, super-athletic guards, they've traded first round picks for the likes of Marcin Gortat, Markief Morris and Bogdan Bogdanovic. Grumfeld still having his job is the most inexplicable thing in all of sports.
I thought about Charlotte and Beal. I think that's a very good fit alongside Kemba who's pretty much the anti-Wall. The unfortunate part is that I don't think Charlotte has assets to get it done. Kevin Knox, a 1st and fillers? That don't sound appetizing.
Knox plays for the Knicks. Spoiler Dwayne Bacon Nic Batum Bismack Biyombo Miles Bridges Joe Chealey Devonte Graham Willy Hernangomez Frank Kaminsky Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Jeremy Lamb JP Macura Malik Monk Tony Parker Kemba Walker Marvin Williams Cody Zeller
Kemba and Beal would be a lot of fun. I hope it happens. I sort of root for the Hornets because I feel for any city that has had their team taken away only to get it back (Cough cough Oilers) and Kemba was one of my favorite college players while he was at Uconn and it would be nice if he got a bit of help over there.
I would take Beal on the Rockets..... he would likely flourish in the Rockets offense and he would prevent those long dry periods. The Rockets can offer draft picks and likely more than most teams if the Wizards decide to completely gut their team. There are a couple players that the Wizards have that would likely interest the Rockets and the cost shouldn't be too high......... Satoransky, Oubre, Morris, Green........ Porter...... could even do a Knight + a future pick for Rivers and Satoransky or could get bold and do Knight + future picks for Oubre/Morris/Satoransky. Lots of possible pieces on the Wizards team.
Morris would be a great pick up for the Rockets. His contract is decent and he would be great off the bench.
Satoransky hasn't played enough minutes for me to really evaluate him. Markieff is a nice player but not a needle mover. Would like a better shooter. I'm being greedy on this, but I really want to add a truly elite shooter to this team.
Heat look like the right candidate to take on Wall's contract. Heat: John Wall ($19,169,800) Otto Porter ($26,011,913) Wizards: Goran Dragic ($18,109,175) Hassan Whiteside ($25,434,263) Future First Round Pick Pat Riley would love to get his hands on another star point guard in Wall -- albeit a Wade lite with an attitude problem. Nothing Riley hasn't dealt with before. Wizards soft-reboot with a core of Beal-Dragic-Whiteside -- all under contract for only 2 more years.
I think the Wizards will get calls about Beal but they are in for a rude awakening if they are serious about moving Wall.
MDA would really like to add an elite shooter as well, he has mentioned it several times. Gordon was supposed to be that type of shooter.
