ET works fine, no to BH. reasons stated in the above post are pretty much my same feelings about the 2 players
Thats kind of my take. At one time he was a pretty mobile 4/5. I remember his coach saying that he was probaly the third best player he coached after Anthony and Coleman, but after he bulked up to be a fulltime center he lost most of his explosiveness. Without an offensive game to speak of he'd be a bench player and with his contract thats a big waste
I don't understand sometimes when people say they are really centers not PFs. At 6-10, 7-0 you are a big guy and you play on the post regardless of positions. Maybe it varies on individual's talent and physique on whether they are tough enough to grab that rebound or get that block shot. Shouldn't it be easy enough from them to adjust to be playing as a "PF" and therefore the position they played previously is the least of concern but how they played the game?
I think it is relevant when you talk about them matching up with someone on the defensive end. A PF needs to be able to defend a bit away from the basket. A center can have less in the quickness department as long as they can bang with the widebodys.
These two players play exclusively at the 5 for the Wiz. 6-10 is the prototypical height for a PF in the NBA.
if they would throw in Juan carlos Navarro, the best guard the world has yet to see, then this trade would be perfect. outgoing:Rafer,Sura's contract Incoming: haywood, juan carlos
Both players would be really slow for a PF and neither has a game outside of 6 feet. At least Hayes has quickness, and as crazy as it sounds, by comparison has a jump shot and converts his FTs. Now either is a solid back-up center (Haywood is the better player by metrics the last 2 years), but Deke is much cheaper and probably better for 10-15 minutes behind Yao. Reacquiring Strom Swift, which I am NOT recommending, would add more to our line up than these two.
what i really dont understand about people on this board is the smug, choosiness of some. Many believe we need a bigger version of chuck hayes that is a shot blocker. Well, that thomas. I stated before the draft and fa that he and daniels can be had. Daniels and thomas combine to make 12m. Whats so hard about rafer, sura, snyder, head for tomas and daniels. Now the rox have the shot blocking physical 4 man and a starting pg with size in daniels. then use battier and a 2nd for artest. Daniels/james/brooks tracy/bonzi artest/bonzi thomas/hayes/novak Yao/thomas/deke Can anyone tell me that that is not a title contending team. The team would be tougher, which i think they lacked. more atheletic and a better defensive team. They should make it happen and run that team for 3 yrs and see if they can win it.
Quite simply I think Hayes is a better power forward for our team than Etan Thomas is. Hayes actually has a better jumpshot, is a better FT shooter and is far more mobile. Thomas makes a good back-up C, but a pair of bigs that include Yao and Thomas would get chewed up by faster front lines, which would be about everyone we face. Thomas has been playing exlusively center for two+ years for a reason, he isn't a power forward. He isn't even playing back up PF minutes.
I can't start threads, so maybe someone can copy and paste this one, but Hoopsworld was talking about possible trades and it mentioned Camby being available, and that Head is someone the Nuggets have wanted for over a year(They tried to trade Najera for Head last time). Now, just a Hoopsworld RUMOR and MY speculation, but that could mean that our next PF is going to be Camby. I was thinking Luther Head, Sura's contract and possibly another player like Kirk Snyder to help match Camby's contract.... IMO this is a trade that should be done. Camby next to Yao and Mutumbo when Yao is tired or in foul trouble is intriguing as hell. The guy is very versatile and could play C if Mutumbo gets hurt. Once again this is rumor, but I know other Rockets fans can appreciate the subtle hints here: Denver is unloading Camby, the Rockets need a PF, and Denver loves Luther Head....
Just a word of advice since I've seen you do this multiple times...you don't need to post the same thing in every thread.
Just a word of advice, when I can't start a thread I need to have my post seen. Since not everyone checks the same threads, I have to do this. Thanks guy
I'm just trying to help you out. Posting the same exact thing in multiple threads won't go over too well.
There's a reason why you can't start a thread... so that rookies don't post the same thing forty times. Most everyone reads every thread, so once you say it once everyone will read it... fear not.
A guy with 32,000+ posts tells a new guy with 86 posts how not to po people on this board and gets this ... If anyone gets mad about this they need to get a freaking life.... Take a hint Sweet.
Wouldn't have to post the same thing 40 times if I could post it once in my own thread.... I may be a rookie by techinical definition of this website, but believe me I know more about the Rockets past and present than 90% of the ppl on this board who post stupid **** like: "Hey let's draft Big Baby Davis, or sign Milicic...." That's called stupidity, and you know what, most of the ppl who wanted those 2 guys had thousands of posts...
