Well @ballscientist1.....do you think Dwayne Dedmon could replace Capela next year making about
$6.3 million? Playing next to CP3/Harden/LeBron/Ariza/D-Wade/Gerald Green/Nene, etc..

    Capela: 26.7 mins/game 14.4 pts, 10.7 rbs, 1.1 ast, 1.7 blks, 59% (FT%), 0% (3P%)
    Dedmon: 23.3 mins/game 10 pts, 7.7 rbs, 1.4 ast, 0.7 blks, 75% (FT%), 35% (3P% on 18-51 3PA’s)

    Capela listed as 6’10” 240 lbs.........Dedmon listed as 7’0” 245 lbs per basketball-reference.com

Dedmon plays on a much lesser teams which distorts his numbers somewhat. His blocking ability is better than that.

    Three things -

The Rockets will start the offseason above the cap so forget about being below or creating cap space. They cant get better that way.

They WONT be hard capped. They cant bring in a 3rd star and keep their core if they hard cap themselves. It would be downright silly to subject yourself to the hard cap in their position.

They will be deep into the luxury tax.

I Really don't understand the fascination / concern with how much Capela earns next season when it really doesn't matter other than how far into the tax the Rockets end up going.

I also don't understand people thinking Tyson Chandler or one of these other aging vets replaces what Capela brings to the offense.

FORGET ABOUT CAP SPACE!!!! Figure out how to make improvements ABOVE the cap.

The propose of thread is trade Capela now if he wants money, otherwise Rockets will be regretted.

Lakers can even give Capela one-year 26 million contract. Owners of Knicks and Nets are crazy too.

You need to be the one that finds Capela, not pays Capela a max contract

The reasons Clippers want to deal Jordan and Lou Williams

Jordan asks for supermax contract and Williams agent asks for $25 million per year contract.

I'd deal Capela/Anderson to Clippers for Jordan, then play low ball against Jordan in summer.

That’s exactly what the Warriors would want us to do. Block LeBron from becoming a Rocket this summer.
Warriors are worried. They should be.

Look up NBA luxury tax Wikipedia. Pay repeater tax if you exceed the luxury tax 3 of 4 previous seasons.
Clutchfans are not worried. Your rush, rush.....hurry, hurry tactics are lame. Used car salesman stuff.

Why are you willing to downgrade from Calepa to Wright or Chandler over money when his salary affects nothing but the amount of tax they would pay ? You are trying to save money when there is no need to .... This franchise has DEEP pockets. There's really no reason for this.

Championship or save a dollar ....

Rockets wont be hard capped next year... they are this year.

Capela could be resigned after everyone is signed, but that notion still stands, do not want to overpay him. We can find similar much better for cheap.

Doesnt matter, you have to think like the owner, that is the reasonable way of thinking.... because tax is dollar for dollar. Would you sign capela at 14 and pay 28 total. Or sign at 20 and pay 40 total. Its a easy choice. Plus Clint isnt worth anything over 13-15 right now anyways.

And the owner is gonna think - If Capela is the difference between a Larry O trophy or a loss in the Conference finals , is it worth the extra $20m ?

Believe me. If Ryan's contract is in the book, Capela goes for nothing this summer.

Trade him now, otherwise you will be regretted.

I agree that the Rockets don’t have to overpay.

How are you confident the Rockets won’t hit the hard cap next year?
