so you don't need to win games to get to the playoffs? that matters just a little bit don't you think.

It is crazy that Houston has been good through its years, but they have never ran away with it to a 60+ win season. Funny that they can end up with the franchise #3 win total, but still be seeded #6. And then you hear how San Antonio holds the record for most consecutive 50 win seasons. Makes you say "WHAT!!"

There was a time the Rockets were Texas most popular basketball team. I havent checked recently, but i would not think they were that now.

But back to the season at hand, I would like the re-match with Portland. last i checked we are #5 and Portland is #4. Though we have a better record.

that team had Yao injured seemingly out of nowhere during the 22 game winning streak. TMac was pretty banged up too heading into the playoffs (he would require surgery in the offseason) He was playing at a high level prior though.

Whats disappointing though was after that season and surgery he never 100% fully committed himself to rehab properly and it exacerbated other injuries he had which lead to missing a lot of the 08-09 season. That 08-09 season was the biggest IF in the last 20 years. It could have changed the course of the NBA (especially Kobe's legacy) If that entire team could have stayed healthy Deke could have had his ring.

Winning 50 games is not easy especially in the west - it probably hasn't happened as often as this team hasn't been super talented in recent years and the late 90s runs. The league was more balanced back then too so playing east games weren't more than like a W either. I dont think its a shame to be surprised this franchise has not had more. We havent had a superstar in their prime on this team for a long long time. The ones we have had (Yao, TMac) since Hakeem retired could never stay on the court long enough and when they did the team did win 50 games

Harden has scored more points than Hakeem ever did in a single season. That's pretty cool
