YOU KNOW WHAT IS SO SAD THAT EVERYONE WILL SAY I TOLD YOU TMAC WOULD BE OK AND NO ONE WILL EVER STEP UP AND SAY THEY WERE WRONG ABOUT ALL THIS BULLS%$% ABOUT TRADING HIM. I REALLY HATE THIS BECAUSE WHEN THINGS ARE GOING GOOD EVERYONE IS SAYING I TOLD YOU SO BUT WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG TRADE HIM AND TRADE HIM FAST. JUST HATE PEOPLE ARE SO QUICK TO JUMP BACK ON THE BANDWAGON WHEN THE RIDE ISN'T BUMPY AND ROUGH ANYMORE. IF YOU ARE GOING TO RIDE STAY ON THROUGH EVERYTHING. WHEN I SAY THIS I AM SAYING WE SHOULD NEVER TALK ABOUT TRADING OR BAD MOUTHING TMAC OR YAO, THEY WILL TAKE US WHERE WE ALL WANT TO GO AND THAT IS TO THE FINALS. This is exactly what we've all been saying and what the press has been saying all along. Hopefully it's coming true.

It looks like TMac could be back for good now. If he returns to his old self (I'm talking his 2004 self...which he's looking like), and Yao comes back playing like he was the first half of the season, this team immediately turns into everything we all want, and everything we all thought it could be when we first put Yao and TMac together.

I think that with Yao and TMac together, we have to be considered in a short list of 3 or 4 teams (us, the Mavs, Spurs, and maybe Suns) that are legitimate title threats. I'll wait until Yao's back, but if he returns to his pre-injury form, I don't think there's a team in the league that could beat us in a 7 game series.

    Seriously.

Only one guy can carry the team. When Yao comes back, the ball goes through Yao. Tmac's play will suffer some. Hopefully he will keep playing aggresively and confidently even when the ball is not in his hands all game.

mercy and imposing wills will do in battle.... but humility might be the trait that is the catalyst to t-mac's success in war..

If t-mac is healthy the rockets wont have to fear we will make the playoffs, if t-mac is out and Yao is healthy we have to fear. I'm not hating im just stating the facts. If T-Mac and Yao are healthy with a good shane and a clutch head we have a very very very good chance to WIN the Championship.

I am totally exstatic that the "old" Tmac is back...

but doesn't anyone felt it's kind of weird that he went from brokeback tmac to 2004 playoff mode basically overnight? Has anyone here know anyone personally with chronic back problems that disappear after a 2.5 hr treatment??? I didn't know what to think after watching the first game he came back w/out Yao.. he looked SOOOO much more motivated in that game.. I decided to give it a few games to see if it was for real (because we have heard Tmac say he is fine.. only to get hurt or just jack up 3's cause he's not driving down the lane due to the prospect of getting hurt.) It does look like it's for real after watching the last 5 games.

that's pretty amazing.. I always hear people say that back problems are around for life... let's hope this Patterson guy had some miracle back cure or something.. cause we sure missed the Tmac v1.0

I am not sure what you're trying to say, because if it was so easy or not so significant then why are guys like Kobe not on the list? You're downplaying its significance for no good reason. If nothing else, the numbers indicate that he's a truly great all-around player, that he isn't yet another one-dimensional superstar player who can do nothing else but score. The stats only point out the obvious: he's one of the best all-around talents in the league. It's even more significant when you consider the fact that the list has mainly big men on it, and not just any big men (Kareem and Wilt, to name two) along with the king of triple-doubles (Big O). In case you forgot, T-Mac is a guard. Either way, just being mentioned in the same breath with those all-time greats is pretty damn significant.

I don't know why, but you seem to be somewhat sensitive to people/posters giving McGrady his due or expressing a positive opinion about him.

Most nights Yao will be our primary offensive option, but it's not like it's etched in stone. Some games you will have a hot hand, you feed the hot hand, be it McGrady or someone else. But everyone on the Rockets accepts the idea of Yao being the #1 option, McGrady himself has acknowledged that a number of times. There doesn't seem to be a conflict of wills on that front.

I believe DEKE plays critical role in our 5 wins: His inside defense is hard as rock!

Tmac's game will suffer a little probably when Yao comes back, but that's good for him. Less load, more efficient Tmac, we are more deadly. I cant stop imagining we replace rafer's 4/17 with Yao's 13/22 and Tmac goes for 10/21, and the rest roles knock down wide open Js and practice layups.

Conventional wisdom would tell you that McGrady has been the biggest factor in our 5-game winning streak, but I actually think Deke has been the biggest factor in our last two wins. The guy's rebounding and shutdown interior defense has been absolutely critical to our success as a team. We wouldn't be nearly as competent without Deke's contributions.

I would also add Juwon to that list, he has been instrumental to our success since Yao went down.

The two oldest veterans on the team are keeping this ship afloat...

I don't see it as his game "suffering", I see it as him not having to play all-out on offense like he has been doing lately and carrying less of the offensive load, thus preserving himself come playoff time; same true of Yao with McGrady by his side.

In today's NBA, it's simply asking too much for one player to carry his team on his shoulders for the entirety of the NBA season. Heck, it's challenging enough for two players to do it alone without a good supporting cast around them.

there is a difference between structural back problems (bulging discs and other bone/ligament problems) and muscle problems (which tmac had)

alot of folks here equated the problem tmac had with more serious longterm structural problems

Im not real sure of what Patterson did specificallly, but fixing non-torn muscle problems is easier to do than fixing the other kind of problems

The big question is will Rafer still be hoisting up 15 shots with both stars in the lineup. The sad fact is he will probably continue to shoot bad shots while attempts for Luther and Shane will decrease.

I get the feeling Rafer just can't believe he's being left this wide open and feels like he must punish the other team (which is an instinctive reaction). If only he'd realize after 32 games the Rockets are the ones being punished by his excessive FG attempts.

The challenge is going to be if Gundy can come up with an offensive scheme that utilizes Yao and Tmac at the same time.

The ball can't go through Yao 75% of the time while Tmac is standing around like a 3 point shooter.

We are going to have to get in our offensive sets quicker. Get Yao the ball early, if the play is not develping get the ball back to Tmac with more then a few seconds left on the clock. Or imploy a more slashing offense or something similar to the triangle offense.

If Tmac goes back to standing around while Yao gets the ball all the time, the fault lies in our offensive schemes.

Getting them both to perform somewhat on the level they do when the other is injured would be great.

Maybe the thing to do is to get Tracy going offensively first, rather than Yao as we seem to want to do. Yao's game is simple and something we can always go back to. Tracy can always play the assist man, but it might be hard for him to become hot if he stays in passive assist mode for all of the first quarter or so.

Are there any pointers to be gotten from the Shaq Kobe years?
