We could also trade the 23rd pick back to Orlando for their young center "Daniel Orton".

Daniel would probably have been a late lottery to mid 1st rounder in this years draft. He has great size standing 6'10 with a 7'4.25 wingspan, good athleticism, and is built like a tank.

His very raw, and didn't get any playing time in his rookie season (partially due to a knee surgery) and will actually be counted as a rookie next season, ala Griffin. He probably should have stayed another year in Kentucky, instead of coming out for the 2010 NBA Draft. But with that said he holds terrific upside, and could be a potential defensive anchor for years to come.

So if their is no real promising prospect with the 23rd pick, I'd be open to giving it (+ 2nd rounder) back to Orlando for Daniel Orton.

what's the latest on giorgi shermadini?

They should try to come out with 2 centers in this draft...buy a second rounder if one slips. hope for an Asik/Jordan result.

I'm in agreement with those saying this pick gets dealt as we move up.

No suit needed if a team could get Singler at #23....His game will translate beautifully to the NBA......just don't see him getting past 15 or 16.

With it looking like we will go youth movement, I want to get 1 big with potential and 1 wing with potential in this upcoming draft.

Assuming we get 14, I want to trade #23, #38 and an asset or two to get as high as possible in the draft. Even if we could just get another pick in the 10-16 range there is some talent around that area.

Jordan Hamilton and Tristan Thompson would look nice. I am not a UT fan, but I would like to bring in that combo.

If we draft at 23.... Maybe Kyle Singler will be there.

This is a pretty good idea, but he will probably have lingering knee problems. Hope i'm wrong though.

If we're gonna get a center in the 2nd round, we need to get that big kid from Maryland.

Williams? Seems like he could still go late in the first. Is he a true center? I think we need to go with 6'11 +. it's tough to make a PF into a center unless they're very skilled, and if they are, they won't be second rounders.

There doesn't seem to be many left past the lottery, but like i said, i hope they can get at least 2. Williams, Shermadini, whoever...there just isn't enough out there to sit back and wait for a trade to develop or expect to get one in another future draft. Increase the chances of finding a legit center by getting more of the available ones in the draft.

If we're using both our first rounders, I do NOT want to use the #38 pick on a guy who will demand a training camp invite. It needs to be either an international prospect or a guy like Maarty Leunen who is willing to put his NBA dreams on hold and play overseas for a year or two.

Issac David Haasmann from Australia, 6'1'' combo guard with speed to burn and a shot so sweet it could kill a diabetic.

Great court vision & Plays great defence too, 45" vertical, blocks shots with either hand.

    I disagree.

It's not ideal, but if you keep the pick, you still go for the BPA.

Sooner or later a trade will take place and give the guy an opportunity to come in and contribute. Until then stash him in D-League.

If you do get that superstar, second round role players like Budinger will come very handy, given their low cost.

You only get 15 roster spots. If the Rockets want to re-sign both Yao and Chuck, bringing 3 rookies to training camp (in addition to Terrence Williams and Hasheem Thabeet, who will each be going through their first training camp with the Rockets) does not sound like the best use of resources. Barring trades, either that #38 pick or someone with a guaranteed contract will need to be waived.

Shermadini would likely be staying in the Euroleague for awhile. I don't see any reason for him to come to the NBA right now. He would be an excellent pick though. If he was American you can guarantee without any question that he would be a lottery pick.

Too bad there is no LeBron, Dwight or Shaq like players in this years weak draft.

I'll be satisified with top 3.

What are the odds of a #14 team being in the top 3 of the lottery if they are in it two years in a row? It's a lot higher this year, guys. We lost last year. So, our odds are higher this year.

I posted this on the "who do you want to draft" thread.

Lucas is raw and a project, but could be worth the time and investment. If all the center's are gone by our pick, then I would consider drafting Lucas with the 14th pick.

Side note: He measured fantastic, standing 7'0 with a 7'6wingspan and 9'3 standing reach, at the Nike world hoopsummit. He has a great frame(wide shoulders and strong base) that could easily put on some muscle this off-season; I could see him developing into a healthy Andrew Bynum. But the Rockets would need to have patience, with his development.[/rquoter]

I think he should definitely be considered with the 14th pick, if all the other Center's are already taken.

I think we should pair that #14 and #38 picks with a player to move up and try to draft a center there. With Nogueira declaring it makes the picks within that #23 range that much more interesting. If we were able to move up in the lottery and get our big man there, we could either get Nogueira with the #23 pick or another PG/SF(depending on who's left). Nogueira would be better served as a non-lottery pick, imo, as i think he will be taken somewhere between #20-#25.

PG/SG's Darius Morris or Reggie Jackson.

hope we can trade this pick with brad miller to get out of his contract lol. no seriously that would probably benefit the team more than anyone remaining on the board at that point.
