The thing about a beloved Chuck Hayes is that he was an undrafted gem. From a 10-day to earning his spot on the roster.

    Here your're spending a 10th.

Carter might be ok, but am not super excited about it.

For a team that needs scoring, I just don't see how Carter Bryant helps us. He can average 10 ppg and he'll get hot and score 12-15 some nights? That doesn't do it for me. I'm all for swinging for the fences with a #10 pick, whoever that may be. There won't be much there when we pick, I'm leaning towards Kasparas IF they think he can improve the 3. If not, then I'm more lukewarm on him.

If this is the case why not just draft Coward who has a longer wingspan and can defend 2-4 and projects to be a much better shooter? 84% FT line vs 70%. I think Bryant is a better team defender right now but Coward projects to be a better shooter and on ball defender.

If after 4 years, Bryant was only giving you 12 ppg that would qualify as a bust. If Bryant was on the second/first all NBA defensive team, a little less so.

Now if you only talking about next season …

The Rockets have mined gold in mid first round, so they may have some secret sauce in projecting talent there that most other teams and agencies do not. I trust the Rockets FO with this pick and expect them to find someone who will be in starting rotation And contributing by the end of his first contract.

I think kon is top 5 this draft myself. Shares a tier with tre and vj imo.

    Flagg is tier 1
    Harper is tier 2
Kon, vj and tre are tier 3
The 6-12 range of prospects are the same tier for me with small preferences obviously

I’m just sitting here thinking about what we would need to give Philadelphia to get to number three? Mostly for Edgecombe but could go for Kon.

I wanna change my vote from Maluach too because the Rockets aren't going to keep that 10th pick. My new pick, Ryan Kalkbrenner, should be our target. The experienced type of college player that is bound to get PT early.

Can’t wait for the headlines. “What a coward! Rockets star doesn’t take last shot.”

I hate it when we trade out of the draft....

I don't see any way we don't trade this pick!

You all did a good job with the Coward choice. He's missing elite athleticism but he looks like a sleeper as a quality SG role player, his catch and shoot looks amazing, defensive potential with his frame, has NBA measurable numbers at the combine. He can rebound and I can't remember the last time I saw a SG with a post game, but I saw that as well.

I think they had questions about his competition, but I like him as a sleeper or if we trade down as well. I would need more info for his mentality etc. also.

Rockets board if pick is not traded

    Kon
    CMB

    Khaman / KJ

    Carter
    Coward/Fleming

I’m ok with Coward if better options are gone. Honestly don’t understand the irrational hype behind his meteoric rise. More Marquese Chriss than Jalen Williams type of rise pre-draft to me.

Coward isn't as athletic as Carter, but he is more skilled. Coward is disciplined unlike Chriss.

coward is also a couple years older than Bryant as well. I’m intrigued by both players, and unless someone can convince me that CMB will for sure become a decent shooter, Coward and Bryant are the two guys I’m intrigued with at #10. But I’m just not in love with any of these prospects at #10 so this is the first draft I can remember that I’d be okay trading out of.

If Kasparas is gone, I like trading the pick to OKC for Topic and #15. You can still get a good prospect at #15 (maybe someone like Carter Bryant, CMB, Rasheer Fleming, Danny Wolf, etc.).

Topic is a nice player, but he had surgery for an ACL injury. Pass on him.

Adams extension means that Maluach is probably off the Rockets board. The Coward hype isnt irrational. Once you can dig into these players and youre not focused on the tournament or individual games you can see whether or not they're going to be good NBA prospects. Also Coward was supposed to transfer to Duke before going into the draft so clearly they also saw him as a promising prospect. For the Rockets actual attainable prospects I'd rank them: Kon/Kasparas/Coward/CMB/Fleming in that order.
