I don't mean his play doesn't matter, but that his STATS don't matter. No one was talking about Amen's stats at OTE because it was pointless. It was the tape that sold scouts.

And Carter Bryant was a 89% FT shooter as a high school junior. So yeah, so why are you only focusing on his FT stats when he was playing at Arizona?

You were the one who brought up competition and that his stats are meaningless against such competition. Now you bring up tape because your stats/competition argument was meaningless, especially considering Amen.

So then go look at Coward's tape and tell me that he doesn't impact winning.. because from the eye test he's clearly levels above his competition.

Jazz are in a weird spot. Jalen Green/Lauri Markannen plus one of Demin/Kasparas/Fears at 10 is a solid direction that would get you wins now and a potential upside swing for the future. Jalen Green, as flawed as he is, is still probably better than anyone on that roster from a PoA perspective. Issue is that #5 isnt worth both Green and the 10 so we'd need either Keyontae George or Isaiah Collier who fit the Rockets better than Green does. Only issue with George is that he might be a worse chucker than Jalen.

I was responding to someone who compared Coward's stats with Bryant's stats and I simply pointed out that stats against different levels of competition are not created equal.

I mean, if you want to compare Coward's last 3 seasons of basketball to Bryant's, I submit to you Bryant winning MVP and putting up 22/14/4/3/2 in high school and was a top-20 high school player. Are you going to tell me Bryant doesn't impact winning?

On Jalen's value - Could you really get a lottery pick in exchange for him, especially after the complete disappearing act in the playoffs??
In 4 years, he's still statistically the same player he was as a rookie - the only stat that actually improved over his rookie season is 3p% and that was a marginal .011 improvement while FG%, TS% and EFG have all declined from that rookie season that was terribly inefficient.
Yeah, he's become a little better ball handler and defender (from the worst in the league to pretty decent).

I just don't see lottery pick value here, especially with that $100m contract .... If I'm a rival GM, I probably wouldn't give a pick in the 20's for him.

Sell me on a lottery pick ....

I think Green's deal is underwater, but there are just so many deals underwater after the last CBA. I would be very scared of what salary would come back in a deal with a lottery pick. Really doubt Green is traded except as salary filler with some upside for a star.

The good thing about his contract is that it isn't long, and he's still young enough for some team to dream on him. I think it's at least close to being a break-even contract. I think it's fairly close to RJ Barrrett's deal overall, and NYK got Toronto to take him off their hands.

I would be surprised, though, if they trade him for a lotto pick, or a salary dump kind of situation, or a lateral move. Maybe if there's some journeyman guard they've fallen in love with like Grimes or Jerome, or if they end up getting Booker or Giannis and those teams like JG as a lottery ticket, or for a clear upgrade at a different position.

Bryant shot 69.5% ft in college lol. You font think Coward's college competition is good but you want me to consider high school competition? Huh?

I would assume his more recent performance is more relevant to his situation. Even if you wsnt to include his HS thats still only 79% ft which is still lower than Coward. And Coward has 3 yrs sample size all in college instead of just 1.

Btw Bryant only shot 33% from 3 in high school so you want me to include that too? Or just his high stats? lol

you're putting your words in my mouth now - you first mentioned stats/competition, then went on about tape... so what is it?

I don't think there's a need for me to continue when you're flopping around just for your own argument's sake.

If the pick is traded or if it is used on any of those white guys, the pick will receive about the same amount of playing time from Ime Udoka

I don't think there's a need either. Clearly you and I are just talking about different things.

I mean, if you are telling me that level of competition doesn't matter when it comes to FT%. I never said 3pt% doesn't make a difference in terms of competition.
